Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Urgent: Tesco now giving 4,800 Avios / 5,000 Flying Club miles with Diablo III purchases

Yesterday was one of those odd days.

On Friday night I wrote an article about pre-ordering video game Diablo III from Tesco Direct which was offering 1,000 bonus Clubcard points (2,400 Avios).

When I woke up on Saturday morning, with the post live, the bonus was down to 500 points and the deal didn’t make sense financially.  I was very grumpy (I can change the site but I can’t recall 1,200 emails).

Then, during the day, it went up again.  Not to 1,000, but to 1,500 Clubcard points.

And now, it is giving 2,000 bonus points per copy.

2,040 Clubcard points – over 5,000 Avios in total – is a great deal for a £40 video game which should resell for £30 on eBay with little trouble.

Do NOT order more than one per person as Tesco has, of late, been cancelling multiple orders.  Remember the Dan Brown book etc.

Managed 12 copies over 2 accounts. No cancellations yet. For reference I did over 40 copies of Grid 2 across 3 accounts when it was 700 points so tesco are far more flexible than many think….. Famous last words. Got another £300 quarter on 2 accounts now, just waiting for an avios bonus to cash in.

  • Jens Moller says:

Wow, 2 times 2040 actually arrived on my account this morning! I’m a bit surprised that Tesco honours this deal:-)

    Have a sunny day everyone!

Cancellations can take time, I guess? Tesco has got a history of cancelling certain ‘too good to be true’ or obviously glitched generous pre-orders, though usually for multiple orders not singles.

Anyway, mine are showing too, FWIW. Shaping up to be a good quarter.

  • Phil says:

I can confirm 2040 points have posted to my clubcard account this morning.

    Thanks Raffles!

  • Will says:

2040 points arrived this morning. in plenty of time for the august voucher cutoff. which i had ordered more than 1 copy. Thanks Raffles for the sunday update :o)

  • Boddingtons says:

I ordered 1 xbox and 1 ps3 game and whilst the points for both had posted, they cancelled one of the orders. Same across every account.

Bit naughty really as they were infact separate products.

    • Boddingtons says:

And in doing so, removed one set of bonus points.

Check your tesco direct account to see if any orders had cancelled

  • Rocky says:

2040 points have arrived this morning as well lets hope they stay on

    • chris says:

as long as you only order one should do, or at less for 1540 of them (since all those when it was 1000 points for the game and 500 points for orders of £35 or more and 40 at cost, ware not glitches)

all the other orders based on the glitched 500 x 2 for the over £35 depend on if tescos flagged them for more than one order based on if diff accounts ware used / diff ips and clearing cookies diff address / card ect
