The HfP chat thread – Tuesday 1st December

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HfP shows the last page of comments under the article.  If you want to see the first page of comments and read them all from beginning to end in order, click here: https://hfp2022.headforpoints.blog/2020/12/01/the-hfp-chat-thread-tuesday-1st-december/comment-page-1.  The page will refresh with this article but the comments will now show the first page and not the last page.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Just got an offer from Curve of spend £100 at Amazon and get £10 back.

  • The Savage Squirrel says:

Bendy news: hoping for the Amazon £100, but instead I’ve just got an offer as a business customer to Beta-test “Curve Credit” which seems to be an attempt for them to step in and lend you money to pay off over 3/6/12 months rather than the balance head to your credit card.
Can I have the Amazon thing instead please 🙁

  • Mike says:

Amazon GC on the shelves today, they’ve been gone for ages in my local WM’s.

  • Mike says:

Did I imagine it was possible to change your 1% retailers on Curve for BF?

    • TGLoyalty says:

You should have got a pop up when you opened the app if you don’t you can send curve a support msg.

      I didn’t but I don’t want to change anyway

    • Nigel W says:

Yes you could (but I kept mine the same)

  • Mike says:

I got nothing. Seems I’m too late. Also, Amazon pop up for my Blue member partner, but me nothing, and no email. I have Metal.

If it matters, I’ve never used Curve on Amazon.

  • Grimz says:

I have around 150k Virgin points and have not held the Virgin cc for a couple of years. Is it worth applying again? Thinking of using the points in 2022 to Vegas?

    • Tom says:

If you think you can spend £10k (or £20k i think for free card) then you could trigger the voucher which you should be able to get some decent value out of (if they stay afloat).

    • Rob says:

Yes, you’ll be fine if accepted.

  • Gordon Ritchie says:

Several airports including Gatwick, Edinburgh and Newcastle have introduced drive-through test centres with subsidised rates starting from £60 for passengers, but capacity is severely limited.

    • Colin MacKinnon says:

This is the issue: unless you can do mass testing, there won’t be mass travel!

  • YH says:

Full meal service in BA Club and First returning from January 20th 2021.

    • Rob says:

BA refuses to confirm this so I wouldn’t believe anything you read, necessarily.
