The HfP chat thread – Wednesday 23rd September

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HfP shows the last page of comments under the article.  If you want to see the first page of comments and read them all from beginning to end in order, click here: https://hfp2022.headforpoints.blog/2020/09/23/the-hfp-chat-thread-wednesday-23rd-september/comment-page-1.  The page will refresh with this article but the comments will now show the first page and not the last page.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

    Hello

I know this was asked few days back but we haven’t seen anyone posting their experience, so I’m looking for some advice. I have a Lloyds upgrade voucher booking which I would like to cancel and take FTV, my booking meets the BA FTV rule but BA treats Avios booking by Avios.com as travel agent booking so they are asking me to contact Avios but I couldn’t get through Avios after long wait on calls. Is there any experience sharing or advice on this situation?

Quick question, has anyone else had issues with Curve regarding refunds, especially if they moved from holding a corporate credit card to personal credit card?

I now have two quite large refunds outstanding on my old corporate credit card with both companies saying they were sent last month. One of whom I have received another refund completely fine on my HSBC credit card.

    • Lady London says:

Ask Curve for the transaction reference.
My bank told me the convention is that sender proves it was sent and provides details, reference, tracing and that the receiving bank doesn’t have the power to do that.

so I would ask Curve to provide the transaction reference number and tracking information – I’ll bet they can’t prove it by providing the tracking info so ask them to send it again (which they won’t like but if they can’t prove it….!!!)

      • Lady London says:

Actually read that again, it sounds like it is the company refunding which must provide the transaction reference of the refund sent to Curve and the tracking – they get it from their bank. This will prove to Curve that they received the money.

In turn, demand from Curve the above info for their onward transmission of those refunds to you. I’ll bet Curve can possibly provide a reference, but won’t provide tracking. In which case could you threaten them with being reported to the FOS?

    Hola chums.

Sometime ago there was a discussion piece around the Faroe Islands. Can anyone point me in the direction of the day/thread as there were some interesting insights and we’re considering a Nov trip! Cheers

Just seen an email offer for me for enhanced 10k avios with blue BA Amex and 30k with BAPP – no mention of not being eligible for sign up bonus if you’ve had or currently have an AMEX card – is this condition being relaxed for this promotion??
