UPDATE – DECEMBER 2021:  This article is now out of date, but don’t worry.  We produce a monthly summary of the top hotel bonus point offers – please click HERE or use the ‘Hotel Offers’ menu above.

Le Club AccorHotels, the loyalty programme for Novotel, Ibis, Sofitel, Mercure etc, has launched an online quiz to teach you more about the programme.

The great news is that you will receive 1,050 to 1,100 Le Club AccorHotels points for doing it!  The points post instantly.

You can find it here.

The quiz is called ‘Rewards Quest’.  Whilst I call it a quiz, the number of points you earn is not dependent on how you answer the questions.  Get them right or get them wrong, you will still get the points.

The questions are slightly different if you do not have status in Le Club.  I was only able to earn 1,050 points as a Platinum member whilst a base level member should be able to receive the full 1,100.

If your account is set up to automatically convert points to miles, you will presumably receive these as miles instead.  If not, you will need to earn a few more before you can do anything with them.

The minimum conversion to Avios points is 3,000 points.  You should always transfer Accor points into Iberia and not British Airways because the conversion rate is 1:1 compared with 2:1.

The minimum conversion into an Accor hotel discount is 2,000 points which gets you €40.

At certain times in the past it has been possible to convert points to miles irrespective of your balance.  I don’t think you can do that at the moment but the option may come back.  It is worth claiming your free points just in case.

Note:  I had trouble getting the quiz to work on my PC, both in Chrome and in Internet Explorer.  It worked fine on my iPad.  Your experience may differ.

You can log-in and play “Rewards Quest” here.  It will run until 14th February.

Bantam . I received an email direct from Accor , obviously directed to Platinum members . I am not sure if there was a link on the website as I clicked straight through. I have also received priority booking emails for the concerts at the newly sponsored Accor Arena in Paris. I foresee further offers now they have this partnership. Was for sure a great value points exchange as I personally value a suit seat at minimum £100 value. My guests were very impressed .

In order to top up your Accor account to 3000 pts using e-rewards you would need to convert 12,000 opinion points to get 2000 Le Accor pts which would then convert to 3000 Iberia Avios pts. I registered with e-rewards via IHG which allows you to transfer your survey points to IHG, Le Accor, Iberia , Avios, BAEC & Virgin which is great. Iberia only needs 8000 opinion points to get 3000 Iberia Avios so it’s ‘pointless’ transferring your points to Le Accor.

Is it possible to merge 2 accor accounts?

I’ve just been looking for other ways to earn quick Accor points. There is the ‘Places’ App which earns you points for checking in to various places. I had a couple of stays, and you can check-in on the Places app up to two months after your stay, so hopefully I should be able to earn 50 points each for those. There’s also a 100 point check-in for 1st January, so I’ll have to remember in three weeks’ time! Raffles article on that: https://headforpoints.com/2015/01/11/le-club-accorhotels-bonus-points-place-app/

I haven’t tried this yet but E-Rewards should give you 250 points when you join via Accor and try to complete one survey.

Accor points used to be amazing value, but they now seem to be preventing using the points for certain cheaper rates. I’m sure this was never the case before. Still can’t complain about free points, thanks Raffles.

  • John says:

Transferred to Iberia avios within 12 hours of taking the quiz. An easy 1050 avios. Thanks Raffles!

A follow on question about the travel agent bookings and points etc. Would a booking through Amex travel qualify as a recognised third party ?

    • Alan says:

It should do but I’d be very wary after my experience. If you can get a rate that is pay at hotel rather than in advance then that’d definitely be safer.

    • Rob says:

      It is usually ok.

Readers have been caught out by underhand Amex trickery before though. At one point they were buying heavily restricted Delta tickets which earned no status miles and selling them on (with a huge mark up) for the same price as a standard ticket, so you the purchaser would assume all was well – until the miles posted. The story is on HFP if you search.

This article from 2014 explained how to convert less than 3,000 points to Avios.

I never get more than one stay a year with Accor so it made sense to me.

    https://headforpoints.com/2014/08/06/how-to-convert-accor-points-to-avios/

I tried it yesterday and woken up to an email from Accor confirming the transfer of 1,100 miles to Iberia. So it still works!

    • Andrew H says:

Peaceful Waters – I just tried that. Some pages failed to load and I couldn’t get any confirmation, neither on the Accor site or by email.

      • Nick says:

Same here…got the 1100 points on wifes new accor account but following the instructions from 2014 all seems to be going well until I select my Iberia plus account (not sure if that’s the issue) select ok to the frequent flyer program I selected (Iberia plus) then it takes forever and you just know something isn’t right until it comes up with page cannot be displayed. I have logged back out of her account and back in still shows 1100 points. I doubt its work and now were stuck with 1100 points I cant figure out how to ever use especially since you cant combine points grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

        • Andrew H says:

Yep, I got the same. You should be able to get some other points for free though – try the Places app if you haven’t already (you don’t need to have a mobile phone, just do it via Facebook).

    • Fenny says:

Took me a few attempts, but I eventually managed the right combination. My 1496 points were transferred to Iberia this morning (yet to arrive at the other end of the journey).
