I’m going to be pushing my limit, but that’s thanks to HMRC, not NS&I or card repayments (although I do a few grand a month on the latter — no recycling). Should I be concerned? Loosing points on HMRC spend would be a big blow to my points accrual… paying cards off with other cards is nice, but not so important to me.
also, has anyone worked out how to track the 10k? there’s no progress bar in the app…

What’s the situation with HM*C and payments. Any potential loopholes working?
It used to be possible to overpay HMRC and get refunds to bank accounts. I’m not aware of this working anymore for any personal or business tax.

You can top up Monzo at a Paypoint with a credit card – the fee is low enough to make it worthwhile.
I can’t comment on Monzo, but Monese got very upset when I made a habit of this (despite staying within the stated limits) and closed my account.

It may be easier to just cancel and then complete a separate application for the new card, such is the general incompetence of HSBC administration!
Perhaps, but if you can make upgrade/downgrade work properly, you keep your points balance neatly in one place. If you were to close/reopen, you’d probably have to spend the balance.

When upgrading or applying for the paid version, will there be a review of premier status?
Not in my experience, no. And I happened to notice recently my qualifying insurance product had been cancelled about four years ago by Player 2, and I still have a Premier Account! Need to get something lined up to replace it…

Be warned: I know Revolut is also pretty bad but Starling customer service is truly awful.
As a converse datapoint, I’ve had only one run-in with Starling customer service, and was impressed. Compared to Monese, Revolut and Curve it feels like a ‘proper’ bank. I believe it is actually a proper bank too, so funds are protected.

One other factor — I’ve no status with, and rarely fly on business, Virgin. If that changed I’d keep the card indefinitely.

I’ve had the Reward+ card for a year now, and I’m looking to cancel as I have too many vouchers to use up in the next 12 months.
The earning rate on the card is still pretty good, but can it be worth the annual fee unless you have a high credit limit, and a consistent, year round, high card turnover, and a need for the voucher?
As I’ve got two other decent earning non-Amex cards – from HSBC and Barclays/Hilton — I’m going to cancel the Virgin Atlantic card until I’ve used the voucher I hold. I don’t need another. I can always come back if/when I cancel the HSBC card. In fact, if neither HSBC nor Virgin change their earning rates or sign up rules, I can see me flip/flopping between them indefinitely.

I’m going directly to MCOL, just as soon as I can find the time, on all but one point of dispute with Creation. The pre-action protocols are set out here:
https://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/procedure-rules/civil/rules/pd_pre-action_conduct#6.1
It’s perfectly clear the court would like both parties to use ADRs where possible — and for good reason. However, this requires both parties to play the game, and Creation haven’t even replied to my letters. I’ve nothing to take to the Ombudsman, however, I do have a breach of contract and a Consumer Rights Act claim right now. I think I can justify my reasons for not going to the ombudsman.
If anyone is interested in joining forces on research/digging up T&Cs/writing up a case for MCOL let me know. IANAL. My situation is I spent heavily on my Creation IHG card, 99% through Curve, including virtually all my non-Amex daily spend, plus significant spend at NS&I, HMRC and Amex. Likely average £200k a year for the past three years. I’d earned my Free Night voucher before my first statement for this year was issued. There was no recycling of funds, I did maybe one or two withdrawals from NS&I per year but none of it ended up back in a bank account that was used to repay Creation, even indirectly. Granted I am not as ‘innocent’ a party as some here, who never touched NS&I, but nor have I breached the Curve T&Cs on recycling, nor any Creation/IHG term. Curve recently did a check on my behaviour and haven’t shut me down. I’ve done well out of Creation, and understand they have been fleeced by some MSers, but none the less:
– if I pay for a year’s service I expect to get a year’s service — or a refund
– if I’ve earned the points legitimately, I expect to get the points
– similarly, I’ve earned the free night voucher, I expect to see if in my IHG account immediately if they are going to close my account prematurelyGiven they have stopped their cards working with Curve altogether I simply don’t understand why they are closing the accounts at all.

I’d be delighted to do some fuel dumping, yet to find a flight that help me do so though… if you find anything, feel free to post it here, at least some of us would be please to hear your news (and for now, this isn’t FT, and so a million people won’t immediately jump on it…)

If you could choose only 1 of these to be returned to normal, which would you choose?!
Pre-order please. I’ve only got a special ordered just in case…
