Has anyone ever had their entertainment / TV system not work at their seat on Qatar?

Just been talking to someone that landed same seat same plane all the way to Australia and back on Qatar. Seat TV not working.

On BA I know we hear about this relatively often, but never heard of seat entertainment not working on Qatar.

Anyone else had experience of this on QR?

Hasn’t yet, meta. What’s there needs to be inverted.

People who are asking these questions don’t know their question falls under the current heading “EU261”. They do know their flight got cancelled or changed by the airline. So current titling needs to be inverted.

Also sometimes flights changed etc. is not EU261, just contract (airline ts and cs and practices) etc.

EU261 gave you the right to any choice of rebooking “rerouting” dates for your whole booking as soon as any flight within your booking was cancelled.

I doubt BA will know yet when they will add more flights back to South Africa again. I’d be surprised if it would be so soon as to bring back your flight on 27th December that they cancelled.

Why don’t you think about what dates you’d like to rebook to, and call them? If you do still want to travel on 27th then EU261 says they have to book you on another airline if they’re not flying. But BA may well try not to do this (illegally). Which means you’d have to rebook yourself paying out then suing them online to reclaim – which you’d win and get the lowish costs paid back on, too.

If they can put you on a flight on a slightly later date then they’d owe you any extra hotel costs and meals this caused you during your wait.

You don’t have to resolve this by the date of your cancelled outgoing. But I’d advise you to call them soon and find out what they can offer.

A word of warning – do not accept any refund as then you completely lose your existing right to move your whole booking to whichever dates work for you at absolutely no cost to you.

Hmmm Well that’s one reason for a trip to Florence

in reply to: BA to Mauritius 12th Dec 24 hr delay
    Lady London

What was the reason given by the airline?

At first glance you are due £520 for very delayed arrival, or technically, the same for cancellation with less than 14 days notice. You are also due your expenses for all of hotel for 12th December, transport to and from hotel, meals during the delay, and comms expenses such as internet or a couple of phone calls, if these were caused by the delay/cancellation. Duty of care expenses are due to you regardless of the reason it was cancelled.

However compensation is not due for some types of reason for the delay/cancellation (though generally not as many of these exceptional reasons as airlines like to claim 🙂 ). So it’s important to note carefully what did the airline say was the cause at each stage (particularly as the story may change).

If there was no reason qualifying as an exceptional circumstance then you must contact BA in writing requesting £520 compensation under EU261 / its UK equivalent for the delay and cancellation which resulted in your travelling and arriving 1 day later than booked. Enclose copies of all your receipts for any additional expenses as above : list them under “duty of care”. I suggest you put in your request,a request to be paid within 6 weeks. Technically the legislation says 7 days so 6 weeks is fine.

If they haven’t paid within 6 weeks then you send a Letter Before Action to BA Legal give them 14 days. After that if not paid it’s 8 weeks so you proceed to CEDR or MCOL (this will be a clear case with precedent so I suggest MCOL).

For detail as you go through search the HfP website for comments from Jonathan (excellent on Letter Before Action) and meta.

Quickly find out the reason for the delay and cancellation if they weren’t stated to you as they disappear from some sources about 48 hours after the flight.

If you post the reason given here, someone will doubtless be able to let you know if it’s one of the few exceptions or not.

Give it a few days for things to show. You have time as your booking is way ahead. Then call them if you still have to. Personally there may still be other changes so for May I’d probably not even call as early as Feb.

Reply not positioning, and Quote button does not seem to work. Feels like same WordPress problem applying in the Forum.
