You’re right but, as you rightly point out, it really doesn’t matter even if the terms mention it. Terms can only be considered if they are legal which would appear to be the crux of any argument someone here would be making.

Btw Aldi have a special Japanese wagyu 200g sirloin steak from 9th Dec 21, £24.99 each.

Is that the A4 stuff? Been meaning to stock up on a few.

Apparently not (second!). Very trivial to do though.

One of the main points of having a forum is to avoid the same information being spread across five different places.

Unfortunately it wasn’t noticed that this had already been answered just yesterday as there are two Virgin forums and it’s not clear which one people should use.

@Rhys it was said that the topics might need tweaking. I think this is a good example of that.

What was weird is that it originally showed up then I edited it to add a missing apostrophe and it disappeared!

I’d go insane to be stuck in NY for a week trying out restaurants but someone else probably hates the idea of mountain biking, quad biking, bungee jumping and skydiving for a month in Whistler.

I personally wouldn’t suggest Whistler for skydiving. Low exit altitude and the DZ is a massive tandem factory. If you’re on the west coast anyway and have a few weeks, you’ll crack out much better jumps in NorCal. Skydance and Lodi in particular.

As Rob has noted the BA (or even better the BAPP) Avios converted to Nectar points is as good as cash (sainsburys, Argos or Ebay ) and beats most of the above

Actually i based that CCA 1974 language on researching prior HFP comments. But thanks for commenting, I appreciate it.

Regrettably, while the majority of people here are very helpful, there are are a number of ‘armchair’ experts on various topics who don’t have a scooby.

Sadly that’s definitely the case. Lots of people making bold claims who have clearly never submitted an MCOL claim let alone won a case on consumer rights grounds.

Well you don’t need to even follow the FT thread. You mainly just need to learn what 3X is and do a little experimentation on your own. Lots of the coded stuff wouldn’t be any use to you.

Early stages of planning a west coast trip…

Out to San Francisco (Virgin fly A350-1000s currently), some days there, flight to Vancouver and a drive a loop to Banff, Jasper, Kamloops etc). BA back..

How many days would folk spend in SF and Vancouver to “do” them reasonably? (I am someone who is happy to spend 7 or 8 nights in NYC to give an idea of my “depth” of being a tourist). Thinking 3 or 4 nights max in either (leaving a week or so for the Rockies)? SF more interesting than Seattle?

Best time of year for SF, Vancouver and Rockies? Thinking September/early October?

Why only 7 nights in NYC? Surely you’re only scratching the surface? I’d say as long as you can muster in SFO, even just to do some of the major sights and most interesting restaurants would be at least a week and that’s completely ignoring Oakland and Berkeley.

I can see the tears already, but I will protest this quote/reply mess and not participate in this daily chat anymore. It used to be so much fun for me, and look at the mess we are in now..

This is being fixed shortly, bear with us!

What about the moderation issue? I can see people getting frustrated after writing out long and timely replies only for them to disappear into the aether for hours or forever.

There’s no reason most topics of conversations should be confined to a particular day. 🤷‍♂️

Agreed. There’s no logic behind this now there’s no longer the restriction of WordPress posts for organising comments.

Similarly, one of the most contentious issues previously was the pagination. Now we have authentication cookies to tie preferences to, there’s no reason why we can’t choose to have, say, 100 posts per page instead of only ten or so which would save a huge amount of time and frustration.

Actually I take it back the thing that’s annoying me the most at the moment is that pressing the quote button doesn’t give the user any feedback like on all other forums where focus is moved down to the reply box which means on mobile you often end up with the same quotation repeated multiple times.

I think there is much to be said for the simple formula and great execution of a L’entrecote. There is one at Canary Wharf.

This is a somewhat strange suggestion. The meat used at their restaurants is never particularly high quality and I’ve never seen a steak come out of their kitchen with anything approaching a proper crust. It’s like the Pizza Hut of steaks.

I spoke to someone at Creation today who stated that it’s in the terms and conditions from the point that I was notified the card was to be cancelled, no further points would be awarded. She quote a section in the T&Cs but I didn’t write it down. So my original complaint has been rejected although none of this is in writing yet.

Pretty certain this is not in theirs Ts & Cs, they’ve just made that up. It is also a matter of fact that I was still initially awarded points after the letter was issued, and those points transferred. Only on the 2nd statement after did they not transfer (but their communications, online and pdf statement) both continued to show points “awarded”

Gotta love it when companies a) quote terms as scripture without understanding they have to meet legal requirements of fairness and b) when they potentially get caught making things uo prior to FOS investigations.

I’ve paid HMRC with COT/Curve every month for years. This is the monthly employees’ PAYE bill, so 100% is uncontroversial business spend; and is also part of a full suite of other regular business spend (we put everything we can through there).
Gut feel from what others have said on HfP: I’d say they’re fine with normal spending but small and nimble enough to notice if you start to f*** about doing dodgy stuff, so don’t.

Can confirm that this is on the mark.

There is already a thread dedicated to fuel dumping on FT where I am relatively active under the same username. I have been doing FD for almost 10 years, but I don’t know any FDers from the UK so it would be nice to see some action here.

Maybe you would be better to stick to this activity on FT? This is a respectable site and we really don’t need to be polluted with a thread that requires code words to cover up its dubious nature. The last code wording/grifting action on here didn’t end well.

What an absurd accusation. There’s nothing grey or dubious about FD and the coding is for perfectly obvious reasons.

If you don’t want to participate in this thread that’s fine but to claim it’s “un respectable pollution” and to speak for others is frankly ignorant and rude.

What a mess this new chat page is – you can’t seem to reply to a comment without it pasting the whole comment again or just replying after it so it doesn’t continue the string. What a shame that things had to change – daily chat worked just fine.

You can edit the quote if you want. Do agree it was a very odd decision to avoid using any software that supports proper hierarchical threading though.

What’s really making things difficult is the over zealous moderation of comments and the slow response to the moderation queue which emsnd conversations sometimes take hours to be contextualised.

Cancun is amazing as long as you avoid all the tourist destinations. I’d completely disagree that it’s soulless – if you actually get out to El Centro, it is arguably much close to “real” México…

Having said that I adore Mérida and it has some of the best dining on the peninsula.

I’d ignore Tulum, Playa del a Carmen, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel as again they are inauthentic tourist traps even if not quite as awful as Cancun hotel district. Holbox or Bacalar are worth a visit but Holbox is pretty overrated imo.

The cenotes are obviously amazing and if you ask around you’ll find more hidden gems in someone’s backyard rather than the over visited ones on the coast. Around Valladolid (also some amazing food and much more authentic than many nearby places) and Mérida especially there are some stunning cenotes.

If you haven’t got your cave diving certs yet it’s definitely worth getting them sorted as cave diving cenotes is one of the most magical experiences ever. Also if you have nitrox quals the diving on Cozumel is worth putting up with the cruise ships.

@cinereus – what are you suggesting to @Tom and others is the relevant legislation to “simply” cite in respect of points/free night vouchers?

My skeleton would just start with the bog-standard contract law/consumer rights statutes.

(It’s obviously not binding but there have been relevant cases tried in court too).

Unlike others, I personally think you’d have a good chance getting somewhere with just an LBA and a very good chance if it actually goes to court (on the assumption you can be bothered to spend a few hours properly preparing your case that is).
