In the old daily chats there was some discussion around whether an overseas vaccine passport could be used to enter Hawaii and avoid doing a quarantine.
There was some confusion around if you were transiting, that you were treated as a US Domestic traveler and required a CDC card, or proof of negative test.
Happy to report that after spending a week in San Francisco, they had no issues accepting my overseas vaccination card. I’m running the EU Covid Pass as I can’t generate a UK one (long frustrating story), but can’t imagine the UK one being a problem.
Just make sure you:
1. Fill out and register your details and trip information on Hawaii Safe Travels
2. Load your vaccination record into that portal in the relevant place
3. Do the health questionnaire 24-hrs before your trip, and save the QR code it generates
4. At the airport, give yourself a bit of time to do the pre-clearance. We flew out of SFO and it was located near the boarding gates, they will scan your QR code and give you a wrist band (they didn’t look at my vaccine documents, so I assume someone does that online). This will save you time on the Hawaii side as with the wristband, you can walk straight out the airport; if not you need to do a document check etc on arrival in Hawaii. The queue for this was really long on the Hawaii end.Happy travels – is stunning at the moment on the island of Kauai !
