Booking flights with Cathay Pacific using Avois points

I am looking to fly from Hong Kong to sydney Australia end Jan 22 . All the info that I can find says that I should be able to use the British Airways
reward availability tool but no reward flights come up at all from hong kong to sydney in any class all year .
Can anyone advise me how to find an award flight from hong kong to sydney or actually anywhere in Australia.

From what I understand, Cathay Pacific are in a world of pain due to the severity of the entry and exit restrictions into the country. I believe they have lost up to 90% of their regular trade. They have evn been dry leasing their jets to Qatar Airways as they are evidently oversupplied.

For this reason they will be unlikely to release award space to partners when they will be desperate for the revenue passengers. Not only this but their schedules will be so lightly pencilled that they will not be wanting to compensate passengers or pay for re-routing when they situation changes…again.

JAL airlines seem to be releasing ward space for connecting flights that you can see on the award booking tool, so they could be an option.
