How to book a low cost ‘day room’ at a Hilton hotel

With people again being asked to avoid going into their offices if possible, I thought it was worth another look at Hilton’s ‘day rooms’ offering.

Hilton has quietly been rolling out its ‘rooms for day use’ service over the last few years.  This allows you to book a hotel room for the working day – the idea is to compete with the likes of Regus who rent private offices by the day.  The hours offered vary by hotel but usually start at 9am or 10am and end at anywhere between 4pm and 6pm.

I used this offer heavily in October / November 2020, when some Hilton hotels in London were offering rooms at £30 or £40 per day.  Stacked with the ‘2,000 bonus points per stay’ offer that was running at the time, plus the double elite night credits, it paid for itself and I ended up with Hilton Honors Diamond status.  You won’t get that pricing now, unfortunately.

These rooms are very easy to book online.  Simply visit hilton.com and set your check-in and check-out date to be the same.

Day rooms are no longer bargains but are usually in line with what Regus or one of its competitors would charge for an office for a day.  For 17th December in London I found, and this is only a selection:

Hampton London Waterloo – £65

DoubleTree Ealing – £65

DoubleTree Chelsea – £65

Hilton Gatwick – £70 (handy for long layovers)

Hilton Hyde Park – £80

DoubleTree Kings Cross – £85

DoubleTree West End – £89

Waldorf Hilton – £95

Remember that you will earn Hilton Honors points (there is currently a triple base points offer running) and elite night credit too.

If you want an example of how the service works, Rhys wrote a full review of his day office trials at Hilton Bankside and DoubleTree Tower of London.

  • Save East Coast Rewards says:

I’d say the Hilton Gatwick day rate will only be handy for long layovers when the south terminal reopens. Getting to that hotel from the north terminal seems to take forever.

  • Roberto says:

The problem with day rooms is the hotel reception staff always look at you as if you’re meeting your mistress.

    • Nicholas says:

Just get your mistress to check in for you then, saves any embarrassment.

    • henry437 says:

Yes I might have used day rate a few times for that purpose, not often you can get points for that sort of thing

Mine has a loyalty programme. I’m somewhat surprised it hasn’t already been covered by Head for Points.

    • Nigerian Prince says:

they have seen it all and don’t care

    • TGLoyalty says:

I would have thought day use rooms for long layovers were a daily occurrence at airport hotels.

I often wondered that. No straight answer, seems hotels don’t know either.

I booked a day room yesterday to watch the F1 with a friend at the Waldorf

I’d missed breakfast, but the Exec lounge was available to us (Diamond)

Paid £95, and booked just two days prior. Checkout was any time I wanted. I said 6pm and was given it 🙂

  • Hotel Inspector says:

Many hotels, big and small, offer day rooms via Day Use dot com and similar programmes. What’s great about the Hilton one is it that it is integrated with the rest of Honors so you get recognition, points, etc. (if your husband/wife does your travel admin that might be a huge negative of course). This article seems to be squarely aimed at the non-clandestine use of day rooms, which as a ‘family’ blog I can completely understand, and I imagine accounts for a solid two or three percent of the day room market.

  • Doommonger says:

This is the best, utilising Hilton day rooms, get triple points and upgrade as I am diamond to get my leg over with someone else’s wife at the companies expense, some have pools and gyms as well, if you prefer that sort of exercise. Genius, thanks HforP!

  • His Holyness says:

There’s only a point booking a day room if its actually cheaper, otherwise book an overnight stay and just leave when you want. With Digital Key properties, you can check-out in the App.

    • Hotel Inspector says:

it’s often radically cheaper, half price or even less… particularly in expensive joints…
