We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Sorry to be putting it here again but where do I find the coupon code I need to book my observed antigen test with Azova. They are the company I need to use for my Project Screen test. I know there is a code starting with PRE in an email from Project Screen but it is not being accepted and neither is the activation code. Flight to USA is tomorrow (urgent and last minute) but I am at work so can’t make calls to customer service.
As a back up what is my best option if I can’t get an appointment for today. What’s the cheapest option as I am near Heathrow. I think in person PCR. Please advise.

    • s879 says:

Sorted now. Project Screen never sent the email with the code and link. No wonder I was asking basic things here. Thanks for everyone who replied earlier.

When did Curve drop ATM limit to £200 a day? My annual limit is 1m and used to be 1K a day ATM?

    • DarrenS says:

Just withdrawn £240. App showing £1000 limit

    • JDB says:

There is a difference between the daily limit (on metal, £1k day) and the lower fair use policy withdrawal limits over which you may incur a fee. Look at the terms + fair use policy; too long to paraphrase here.

      • Secret Squirrel says:

I’m Curve Blue so £200 a day now but was only a month ago I was withdrawing lots more than that per day. I haven’t used ATM for a month so was interested to when it was reduced.

    Hilton Help Please 😉

A recent stay at a Hilton did not register the night as a stay because the hotel messed up combining an event bill and the room bill.

Hilton CS have said basically nothing the can do but this 1 night would have triggered a 30 night bonus of 10k points.

Does anyone know if it IS actually possible to get Hilton to add the night credit (or at the very least the point) and if not is there a cheap £20 ish Hilton somewhere I could book a room / day room with electronic check-in to trigger the bonus?

    Thanks

Are AA flights visible on BA.com right now? If not, do I have to phone up to book them?

  • lev441 says:

So I’ve spend £10K+ on my first statement for the BA accelerating business Amex. The regular points have swept over at the beginning of the month but no bonus is appearing either on the Amex app or in my executive club. Anyone know when the bonus should post?

  • Aston100 says:

    Not used Addison Lee before.
To get the Amex Platinum £10 benefit, is it simply just a case of booking a normal journey; paying with the Platinum card (in advance?); get a statement credit at some point?

    Thanks.

  • Aston100 says:

Somewhat related to the previous question, would anyone know roughly how much a black cab would charge between Marylebone and Kings Cross? And if they would get annoyed at such a short journey?

Am I better off getting an Uber for that kind of journey?
    Would be late evening.

    • BuildBackBetter says:

Black cabs would be roughly 1.5x Uber or bolt. Depends on how bad the traffic is. But convenient.

    • Mart says:

Perfectly reasonable journey (not short at all by cab standards). Uber best bet if price conscious.

    • elguiri says:

Cabs are normally waiting outside Marylebone station if you prefer to just make a decision when you get there.
If price conscious, get the bus number 205 that goes between both stations in a pretty straight line. It usually takes the bus about 7 mins more than a cab (32 vs 25 mins in usual traffic)

      • Aston100 says:

Thanks Elguiri but 4 full size suitcases necessitates a taxi / minicab.

        • elguiri says:

If no prams on board, you can squeeze 4 suitcases into that area of the bus, but it wouldn’t be a very comfortable journey.

    • Andrew says:

It’s also an easy walk if you need to kill time between journeys. I do it regularly.

Out of Marylebone, across the road and down Great Central Street, that takes you onto Marylebone Road. Turn left and keep walking, should take you about 30 minutes at a brisk pace with hand luggage.

    • Aston100 says:

      Thanks for the replies all.

    • Rich_A says:

TFL has a fare table here. Suggests £9.40-£15, depending on traffic, for a 2 mile journey.

  • Reney says:

Can someone pls provide a list of alternative cards that offer rewards like amex offers or virgin CB. Looking for a new card that offer this perk.

    • Harrier25 says:

Clearly not, Reney. TBH apart from the Amex and Virgin Atlantic cards I can’t think of another credit card I’d want to apply for at the moment. Unfortunately the cupboard seems very bare at the moment.
