20 days to claim your free Dell products via Amex Business Gold and Platinum

If you have American Express Business Platinum or American Express Business Gold, you are running out of time to claim your free Dell products for H2 2021.

As a reminder:

  • Business Platinum cardholders get £150 of free Dell credit per year – £75 to spend between 1st January and 30th June and £75 to spend between 1st July and 31st December – apply here, review here
  • Business Gold cardholders get £100 of free Dell credit per year – £50 to spend between 1st January and 30th June and £50 to spend between 1st July and 31st December – apply here, review here (this card is FREE for the first year so it really is £100 of free money to spend at Dell)
Dell American Express offer

You MUST opt in via this page of the American Express website.

If you also have a standard American Express cashback offer for 10% back on Dell spending, make sure you register for that too. It will double up, so you actually get 110% of your spending back up to £50 / £75. This is what I got when I bought some items back in March:

What should you buy?

The Dell trade site is here.

The Dell Outlet site and the personal site also seem to work but technically shouldn’t.

Dell is best known for its XPS range of laptops. You can see details here. I find them a little dull but Rhys swears by his XPS 13 in the HfP office.

Accessories may be the way to go ….

If you don’t need any IT equipment at the moment, take a look here at the Accessories section.

I just used my current £75 credit to get Rhys a spare power supply for his XPS 13 (a non-bargain at £73 including VAT, but of course totally free with my Amex Business Platinum credit). This means that he can have a separate charger at home and in the office.

Dell sells a range of laptop bags, briefcases, messenger bags, laptop sleeves and backpacks – see this page of their website.

You might find something here to use with your statement credit. Remember that the prices shown usually exclude 20% VAT so if you want 100% of your costs covered you want an item selling for less than £42 + VAT if you have Business Gold or £63 for Business Platinum. Delivery is free on most items.

Dell Alienware mouse

Dell also has a decent range of mice, keyboards and monitors which will work with all computers, not just Dell models – details here.

If you have an older child, how about a gaming mouse like the funky £70 inc VAT Alienware model pictured above?

If you really don’t need anything, consider buying non-electrical items (backpack, laptop bag etc) and donating them to a local charity shop. They should sell for a decent amount if still wrapped and you may be able to get tax relief on the sale price.

One thing …. ensure that the items you choose are in stock for immediate despatch. When you look at the delivery date, you will see that many of the items advertised are not actually available for a few weeks. You need something that is in stock to ensure that your Amex Business card is charged by 31st December.

Great reminder! Just purchased the mouse. Now I feel like a proper gaming geek. It should help my escape from Hades no end.

  • UpgradeAllDay says:

Will I receive the credit each month if I purchase the monthly subscription for MS Office 365?

    • Rob says:

Is that on the UK site? If so, you will get a monthly credit until you’ve hit your £50 / £75 cap for half-year, yes, assuming it is Dell that continues to charge you.

    • Sam says:

The family version of office 365 is frequently available for between 40 and 45 on Argos or Amazon. That would prob be better value unless you explicitly need a business version

  • Rishul Shah says:

Great Reminder Rob! Do you know if this is per cardholder on a business platinum account?
