We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

    • Toaster says:

Just signed up to Monese to take advantage of this, bought a £200 gift card, can I buy one of each of the others too?

      • Toaster says:

Monese, is there a limit to debit card top ups on the free account? Did £200 first which went through OK, then tried £100 which failed, then £40 which failed.

    • Charlie says:

Thanks, just used the £100 one!!

    • buchanan101 says:

Great – got an email with my voucher for a gift card – saying click button below.

      THERE IS NO BUTTON!!

      • buchanan101 says:

It works in the app – but the email they sent had no link…

        • Bill says:

Depends on your email client. If I read email on my phone there’s a link. If I read the same email on my laptop using outlook IMAP connection there is no link. Gmail web shows the link

    • Triath5 says:

Bought one, but didn’t realise they had stripped out Amazon from the list of merchants??? Not really enthused with any of the ones on the list. How are people using these?

Easiest way to convert them to Amazon gift cards?

  • Froggee says:

Man my email didn’t come until after 12. I actually looked at page 4 before posting!

  • Bob1 says:

Can anyone help with the transiting through the UK? I’m due to fly into Heathrow from Gibraltar on Thursday evening, go straight to Gatwick via taxi, check into an airport hotel then fly out of Gatwick at 7am Friday morning. Is this allowed?

  • Mike says:

I came back yesterday, did my test and got the negative result late last night, but the testing firm says they don’t share it with the NHS because of GDPR and I only need to provide it if I am contacted by Test and Trace. Is that right? Is this another dodgy testing company?

In other countries, the negative result is sent to the authorities releasing you from self-isolation/quarantine then they know you’re free to go about your life. How does the Government know I am negative?

    • JDB says:

I asked the site manager last week out of interest while waiting for ExpressTest at T5 and they said all the data was shared (and the terms don’t distinguish between sharing positive/negative results) but others on here have said otherwise. We haven’t been bothered by Test and Trace since our 3 negatives last Friday, while we were in September when you just had to upload the photo.

    • Tariq says:

There is a requirement for the test provider to notify the results of any COVID-19 test to the UK Health Security Agency (formerly Public Health England) under The Health Protection (Notification) Regulations 2010.

Anyone yet to receive their Hilton Honors credit points for spend greater than £50k in the month?
(there was chat last week that everyone’s had been delayed, just wondering if anyone has had them yet)

  • Soo says:

Fyi Shop Small: if the merchant uses a ‘payment aggregator’ the offer does not trigger. I’ve just spent a long time on the chat querying: for example the restaurant used Squareup to process payment.
How would any customer know beforehand?! I’d checked the (inaccurate) shop small map and it was there.
Probably the only way to see is the payment details after it’s posted.

    • mark2 says:

surely they used a different card reader?

    • Char Char says:

You went there, you paid by Amex they should credit it as its their fault and the map is bad enough as it is.

  • WearyTraveller says:

    Amex Plat holder here.
On Amex website it says the Heathrow Centurion Lounge is open only until 6pm which is a but of a bummer because my pre xmas flight to Dubai from T3 is at 10pm. Are the 6am-6pm opening times temporary? I’m hoping they will be extended before end of the year?

Alternatively can someone recommend a different priority pass lounge? I’m flying with Emirates Economy and might upgrade to Business last minute if there’s availability but not going to have lounge access with them for sure.

Might try arriving way earlier though as I’m really keen to try out the Centurion lounge regardless 😅

Is it possible to book a BA holiday departing tomorrow using vouchers to pay?

    Many thanks
