We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

  • Reney says:

Airtime code, spend £10 get £2 SANTA

    • Harrier25 says:

      Thanks Reney!

      • WearyTraveller says:

You can always find this up to date on hotukdeals. Not sure if it’s ok to post a link here but if you google “hotukdeals airtime rewards vouchers”, they’re all there

  • Mco says:

Is there anywhere in Mayfair I can leave my SUV for 2hrs with 4 suitcases in the back? Is it safe? Was reading a review for NCP and it wasn’t too promising.

    • Jonathan says:

I wouldn’t leave suitcases visible in the back of a car anywhere. Could you find a left luggage? Wellcome Trust was always handy for a free service during opening hours when I was regularly getting trains in & out of Euston. I think Selfridges used to offer left luggage service in their cloakroom but it’s no longer mentioned on the website.

    • Lady London says:

Park it outside a Police Station? Not Berkeley Square, not too near Selfridges. For 2 hours I’d take the risk on-street with the suitcases well covered, although it’s a riskier time of year.

Got a feeling though that car parks are liable if your car gets broken into. What about the NCP in Soho just behind Piccadilly Circus? Sherwood Street I think. Mayfair and St.James’s easily walkable from there.

      • Lady London says:

Harrods Car Park and take a very short taxi to Mayfair, if you can get in? Always seemed to have a lot of staff there.

    • SteveJ says:

Will it be visible? If not I’d just park in Selfridge’s car park.

    • JDB says:

I would have no hesitation in that part of London using street parking with luggage in the back of the car which in any event in most SUVs shouldn’t be visible. It’s about £5/hour and it’s not too difficult to find 2 or 4 hour bays, even currently.

    • Bob says:

avoid NCPs in central London. had a break in recently and they were of no help. car parks are targets as other cars also had break ins

    • can says:

I was in Mayfair this week for 3hr. I booked qpark using JustPark app. Affordable and very safe parking. You just need to book ahead

  • Lady London says:

OT Anyone a fan of Quality Street? Best offer I’ve seen this Christmas 🙂

Buy 1 tin get 1 free. You can choose a whole tin of just 1 flavour eg for me, just the purple. Other places than John Lewis you have to choose 3 flavours for your Custom Quality Street tin, at John Lewis it’s 1
    https://www.johnlewis.com/our-services/how-to-customise-quality-street-at-john-lewis-and-partners

    • Ryanfozzie says:

Looks great, but where does it say buy one get one free?

    • Lady London says:

Oops 2nd one half price till 15Dec.

I was overcome by the thought of a whole tin of the purple ones after I clicked through and forgot the email I received from JL said half price for the second tin

    • Andrew says:

And in Selfridges they have a pic’n’mix Miniature Heroes pop-up where you can do likewise and avoid the nasty ones and choose only the good ones!

    • John says:

Is the email targeted? Cant see offer

      • Lady London says:

I’m on their mailing list. Call any store and get through to the right department if you’re making a trip? Brent Cross is unfortunately where they ‘home’ me and it’s on there. But normally the JL emails are quite clear if an offer is limited to a certain number of stores.

It’s worth signing up to their loyalty program too if you’re a fan, more for info and the odd competition

  • mick says:

can anyone help please, I am flying club world, can I still arrive and check so I can use the Gallery lounge, 4 hours before the flight?

    • Ryanfozzie says:

Not sure I would want to spend 4 hours there, but you are more than welcome to!

      • Ryanfozzie says:

Rob/Rhys, what part of the above lead to me being put on the naughty step? 😛

        • Rhys says:

None, but for some reason WP has decided to moderate certain users including yourself and Lady London!

          • blenz101 says:

Lady London will be preparing to litigate against WP as we speak 😛

Of course only teasing, I don’t doubt our resident small claims expert has helped readers earn back many thousands in due compensation.

          • Lyn says:

More like hundreds of thousands I should think

    • blenz101 says:

      Yes, if you want.

  • John says:

I have another Creation issue- my apologies if this has been answered before on another day.

I had to speak to them to take off the £99 fee which was applied 10 days before they closed my card. I asked about the free night (which I obtained in March) and was told they were not honouring them. Naturally, I raised a complaint.

Has anyone had any success yet in getting the voucher?

    • Colin MacKinnon says:

      No.

Did you get the £99 refunded?

    • blenz101 says:

You will need to raise it as a formal complaint and wait for them to give you a final decision at which point you can go to the ombudsman.

Nobody who is having their account closed has got their voucher, some are now in a position to be able to head to the ombudsman but creation are asking for more time if possible.

      • TGLoyalty says:

More time to work out they’ll have no leg to stand on?

        • JonD says:

Or they are manually going through all of our transactions, removing any curve expenditure and seeing whether the total still adds up to more than £10k.

As you say though, once they make a policy decision for one card holder, that should just get applied to everyone.

          • Lady London says:

Your contract with Creation is individual so you don’t have to accept what they give someone else

        • Lady London says:

          🙂

Creation is pretty dense if they hadn’t worked that out before they started breaking contracts and mistreating customers who weren’t actually abusing their card. Worryingly so given they are a provider of financial services.

I look forward to seeing Creation’s nose rubbed in it, more for their stupidity than their nastiness.

I’m sure their own inhouse lawyer would have told Creation’s management not to proceed as they have and someone in management who’s not aware of the financial and contractual environment in the UK ignored advice.

    • Lady London says:

Any claim or complaint should also imclude for partially accrued vouchers as well.

  • jotaele says:

Any data point using Klarity Fit to Fly tests on BA flights to fly back to the UK? At £12.99 they seem like the best option to buy in advance and bring with us to our destination.

  • Aliks says:

When BA retime a flight but keep the same PNR, how many minutes of delay (versus the original time) before you can claim a full refund.

I tried googling for this info, but just got lost in BA policy pages.

  • George says:

      Thanks!

    • Reney says:

      thx

    • NP says:

      Thanks! Got all of them

    • Aston100 says:

Thanks, I actually got the notification this time (by email) but at 11:47.
No idea why there is inconsistency with receiving these notifications and the timings.
All marketing / comms are turned on.

    • George says:

Happy to share my referral code if anyone wants – let me know.

      • Mick S says:

I keep seeing these and I think I’m missing out on something good. 🙂

so it’s a pre-paid debit by the looks of it. Can you top it up via bendy?

        • George says:

It is indeed a prepaid debit card. Can’t comment on bendy as haven’t tried it!

If you want to sign up to try it, we’ll each get £20 once first transaction has cleared, then a further £30 once £500 has been spent.
          Code is ALEX4572.

          • Mick S says:

on it now, just signing up. Thanks !!

          • Amy C says:

Used your code (thanks) & set up an account. Not sure where to go to benefit from this deal though!

          • elguiri says:

You need to add the amount you want to spend first via top-up link.
Then go to the three bars top left and choose ‘promo code’
Type in the relevant code from George’s list above (making sure you have topped up with enough first).
You will then get a confirmation email with link to redeem gift card.

          • elguiri says:

Do the gift cards count towards the referral spend?

    • rams says:

      thanks
