We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

So it’s already time for the day 5 PCR test for my friend who tested positive in Egypt and has been isolating in the hotel. Negative then he can go home, positive and it’s another 5 days. After 10 days they consider him safe even if the PCR is still positive as long as there’s no symptoms. A doctor pops round daily to check for any symptoms.

I didn’t have to quarantine as I tested negative and have a different room, I just hope I haven’t picked it up and test positive when it is time to go home. Although it’s a nice hotel I can imagine it’s no fun when you’re stuck in your room.

    • Frank says:

Any chances Egypt will be part of the red list soon?

      • Blenz101 says:

Signs are that with community transmission now in full swing red list will be rolled back rather than extended.

        • Ls says:

Last time showed this counted for little sadly. If they followed such science I wouldn’t mind so much

          • Yuff says:

Boris pretty much said, what Blenz101 posted, in the press conference q&a yesterday……

          • Blenz101 says:

With a doubling time of 2 days, that means 200k daily cases by New Year’s Eve and 6 billion cases a day by end of January meaning that we will all be infected or dead by February. No point expanding the red list in that context.

          • ianM says:

Or alternatively free when it’s found the omicron is harmless

      • Paul says:

That would probably depend more on what Johnson needs us to be distracted from next, rather than any scientific or rational approach which could be measured and from which you could make a informed decision

    • Lady London says:

Fingers crossed for you and the friend you loyally stayed to support SECR

  • r* says:

  • SG says:

Anyone had any Shop small credits yet?
I have made few purchases on Sunday,no emails notifications and no sign of credits yet

  • Simonbr says:

Morning. Is it just me, or are BA taking longer than before the “refurb” of BAEC to post flight Avois and TPs. Points for a flight on 5/12 still not showing.

    • WaynedP says:

      Not just you.

My 26 Nov CE flights took 6 and a bit days to post, more than double the 72 hour stated timeframe.

    • Barbs says:

Mine is taking ages as well, and the car that was part of my BA holiday booking a month ago still hasn’t posted.

    • FFoxSake says:

Data point: some of my recent flights just posted…
      Transaction: 02-Dec-21
      Posted: 08-Dec-21
(wasn’t visible in BAEC until today, so looks like you need to allow a full week)

  • Mick S says:

Sorry, another boring Creation IHG question – will the likes of Experian be updated to reflect the loss of the card and the reduction of overall credit available that the customer has?

    • Rui N. says:

Of course it will be updated. It won’t make any significant difference unless they tell Experian (etc.) that the card was closed because of any problems on the customer side. If that happens you can challenge it.

    • Blenz101 says:

      Yes.

    • BuildBackBetter says:

Won’t be surprised if it takes months to update.

      • Rui N. says:

Unless Creation really is very incompetent, everytime I close a card it shows as closed on the credit reports quite quickly.

    • Eoc says:

If there was ever a specialist topic for the forums my vote would be anything Creation related. I feel for those who have been shafted but the endless repetition on the theme for anyone but those affected involved is mind numbingly dull.

  • Mick S says:

    thanks for clarifying.

I was just a bit confused here, as when I logon to the Creation website it still says the card is “Restricted” and not closed.

    • Youllnever says:

That’s what happens when the card is cancelled, I suspect, to let people download past statements and pay off any outstanding balance.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Restricted functionality is what happens with its closed/cancelled.

    • Rui N. says:

What’s restricted is your online account, not your card.

  • Greenpen says:

Several people have referred to a topic forum appearing here and I have just used the link above to view the thread about Amex small shop.

But I do not seem to have access to these forums and cannot find anything about them starting. What’s going on?

    • Sean Mc says:

Was commented on as a Beta test on Tuesdays thread – you need to sign up to get access.

    • Rhys says:

It’s been soft launched so that we can iron out the bugs. Will probably publicise it more widely next week.
