We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Does the spouse of the card holder have health insurance as standard. They do not have the sup plat card. ? Thinking about a trip to Europe in Feb ….
( Business partner has the sup card for his use )

    • Rob says:

Covered, but whether they are covered if you are not there is a different question. The policy document is on the application website though. I suspect you’re ok.

If I take a company to MCOL and win, does that company pickup the cost, or am I still liable for it?

    Thanks.

    • Lady London says:

Your fee is refunded with your win, include it in your claim

    • Can says:

Include the fee. I did and won it back.

    • Joseph Heenan says:

The fee will automatically be added to the amount you claimed if you win.

If you win but are unable to enforce the judgement for some reason (e.g. company goes bust or has little in the way of assets) you’ll still be out of pocket for the court fee.

Anyone got any experiences with GAME purchases through BA portal? Specifically Nintendo Switch bundles, do the points credit?

  • JH says:

Just checked in to First Class flight back from Changi to LHR with BA. Whereas in London the First options are largely unchanged, including Concorde room, at Changi the dedicated first class checkin is gone and the BA Lounge is closed also, you get a pass to use the Maharba lounge instead. The Maharba lounge services are almost totally closed also, serving three meal options from the coffee bar, and a small selection of drinks. If travelling back from Singapore it’s def worth considering delaying travel to airport from the city until the last minute, whereas previously the prospect of the BA 1st lounge would typically encourage me to arrive early and enjoy food and drink before boarding.

Thanks for that update. We are on F tonight, sorry to hear about poor service. But hope they made up for it on board. We had heard that from a friend who left on J last week re the marhaba lounge. Still think it’s best to get there 2.5 hrs before, as queues possible tonight. Last flight out before testing starts, remember.
Hope we get on board with no hitches.

Has anyone been in Tenerife recently regarding the rules for mask wearing – it states you need to wear indoor or outdoors in public areas – do you have to wear them round the hotel pools or when you are walking on the promenades and are they strictly enforced?

    • Anna says:

I think outdoors is only if you aren’t able to be socially distanced, which wasn’t a problem when we were there in August. The only time we actually wore masks was a couple of trips to the supermarket and when we couldn’t avoid going inside somewhere like the resort complex reception.
Where it is required, compliance is pretty much 100% and certainly enforced when there are any officials present, such as in the airport.
If the weather’s good though, there should be minimal need to wear them.

    • Gavin says:

I was there last month – everyone wore masks inside (airport, hotel reception area, in supermarkets, when entering a restaurant etc). Very few people wore masks outside, even in busy areas, and they were not required walking around the hotel grounds when outside. We often ate at outdoors tables in restaurants so the main time we needed a mask was walking around the indoor parts of the hotel.

    • Ant says:

We are in Tenerife at the moment Outside is fine unless crowded -unlikely. But indoors mandatory and enforced, don’t seem to be any exceptions.
Restaurants – not at the table but need it to get to table, go to toilet etc.
we didn’t find it a problem as most things are outside especially as it is still warm and Sunny.

      • GaryE says:

Thanks for the information – appreciated

      • David says:

It wouldn’t be a problem if it was inside either. It’s a piece of cloth your being asked to put over your mouth and nose, not to go and fight in some war. Get some blitz spirit.

  • Jaime says:

Had a flight with Iberia over a week ago, no credit of Avios or Tier points. Logged into account to make a claim, the form to claim missing avios on partners ask for the ticket number with the same format as a BA ticket, but that is not how Iberia number their tickets, therefore the claim can not be completed. BA IT at their best.

  • Bob says:

anyone still having issues logging into virgin app?

  • Red Flyer says:

Looking to cancel a New Years Avios booking but MMB only seems to give voucher option. Am I right in thinking for a points refund I need to call instead? Thanks in advance.
