We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Amazon Prime: Removed all my cards apart from one Visa credit card, 2 days ago. This morning had the £20 credit offer on my homepage.

    • Can says:

Did it on Monday. No credit offer yet 🙁

    • elguiri says:

I left my cards there but added a visa and set to default. 3 days later the offer came up, but you have to add a new card, it didn’t accept that I tried to add one already on account. So removed the card and the clicked the offer link again to add it, and voila, £20 saved.

    • Elizabeth Wright says:

Only £10 popping up for me… not that I am complaining. I am not a regular Amazon user, really try and avoid using wherever possible, so may be that’s the reason…?!

      • Graeme says:

Think it’s £20 for Prime users and £10 gor non-Prime. Same, try to avoid using them.

    • Wallaj4 says:

I have Amazon prime , sorry what deal have I missed !

      • SteveJ says:

Remove all your cards, leave only a Visa credit card on account. Seems people then get an offer of £20 (£10 non prime) to replace their visa with a non-visa

    • SteveJ says:

Where on the homepage do you see it btw? And desktop or mobile? Thanks!

I’m trying it with a Revolut temporary card, not sure if that is considered a Credit rather than a debit card.

      • TGLoyalty says:

        It’s a debit card.

MBNA Horizon one of the only Vosa points cards out there

    • Tom says:

I’ve removed all of my cards too and then added HSBC Visa Credit. No offer yet, where does it appear? I have even completed 3 separate orders.

      • Rob says:

        Home page on desktop.

        • Bigmaggot says:

What a complete waste of time this was. Got offered the £20 on homepage, then every card I added got this

“you added a card to your Amazon wallet.

Unfortunately, the card that you added does not qualify for the £20 promotional credit. It looks like you have already claimed this offer.”

But I haven’t claimed it already, 90 minutes later after being escalated complaints to manually add it.

Admittedly I wish I could go back in time and get 90 mins of my like back. Some things hack me off and don’t give up

  • Ben says:

Do you get a bonus for adding supplementary cardholders onto the accelerating business BA Amex?

  • Mark says:

Any hotel recommendations for Seville over Christmas?

I have points with Hilton, IHG, and Marriott (and need two more nights for Platinum). Hospes Las Casas del Rey de Baeza looks like an option, but has mixed reviews on TA. Hotel Alfonso XIII is too pricey at 100k/night.

Also, we’re not commited to Seville, it just popped up with inexpensive direct flighs on the dates we would prefer to travel, and Spain appears to be less hassle in terms of testing.

    • Richie says:

I think the Alfonso is open to non-residents for lunch/dinner. The Marriott in Malaga is good, has also pretended to be Sydney in The Crown.

  • Lewis says:

Has anyone been able to amend a return avios booking to an open jaw booking without releasing the seats for the outbound leg?

    • Jonathan says:

Changes to an Avios booking aren’t really changes, they’re a cancellation & new booking so no guarantees anything will be available again. Phone agent won’t be able to see if the seats will be available again either as that’s down to revenue management team who keep their cards very close to their chest.

You could book your preferred inbound now as a separate booking then FTV original booking after flown outbound leg. Obviously can cause issues if wanting to use 241 or big difference in surcharges for single leg (eg. USA).

      • Lewis says:

Outbound leg not till August 22, so would assume FTV no longer an option by then?
Also, it is US, so surcharges 🙁

        • Jonathan says:

Hmmm, depends on dates & destination then. School holidays & presumably popular destination would mean it’s a gamble. How big an open jaw is it? If you just want to swap something like LAX-LAS then I’d probably stick with what I had & get a cheap internal flight.

  • Tracey says:

If I cancel BA flight only booking I get a FTV. How do I use that against a BA holiday. Agent said not possible. How long would it take for BA to make the FTV an eVoucher that I could use?

    • GaryE says:

I thought for flights you got an evoucher which you can use online. If you get an FTV then you contact baholidays with the cancelled booking reference and asked them to apply it to the holiday booking reference – have done it so far 3 times and likely to be doing it again in future!

  • Mike says:

No just show just show your BLC at the till – only back being 10 % off in Morrisons until 2 Jan 22 – I stacked up last week with lots ( I mean lots!!) of Moët down to £22.40 and Villa Maria Sauv at £4.80 with BLC combined with Amex offer combined with Morrisons wine offers

  • Boi says:

What is the Virgin WhatsApp number please

    • WaynedP says:

Following is for Virgin Atlantic (and I’ve used it for Flying Club related queries)

      0344 874 7747

But I don’t have the Virgin Money or Rewards Credit Card contact details at hand if that’s what you’re after.

  • Tazzy says:

Any all inclusive Maldives recommendations? Looking less than £500 per night

    • Dilbert says:

Staying Rahaa resort at the moment, and it’s lovely. Got it for a steal – £115 a night. Guess it depends what you are looking for but we are enjoying the unpretentious, easy going feel of the place.
