We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Has anyone successful in purchasing the EasyJet advent calendar received it yet?

I purchased mine on Saturday @ 10am and immediately received the confirmation email advising “ The calendar will be winging its way to you via Royal Mail next day delivery, so it should land with you very soon.” However yet to receive anything. Wondering if others experiencing similar before I chase up

    • James says:

I haven’t received mine yet either – ordered Saturday afternoon

    • Andrew says:

Not much of an advent calendar that arrives mid-December.

      • aDifferentSimon says:

Is a 12 day one to be fair. So I guess they can wait until the 25th – Epiphany??!

    • aDifferentSimon says:

I was wondering the same. Nothing here.

    • Christian says:

Ordered mine Friday evening. Still not arrived.

      • Tom says:

Ordered mine on Friday. Chased on Monday evening and was told by an utterly useless, disinterested live chat agent that it will “surely arrive tomorrow”. It still hasn’t arrived. Since it was valid for use from 01 December this isn’t great.

        • Christian says:

Just chased up via Chat – they asked for the payment reference and said they have passed to a different team who will email me with an update. No timeframe for an update and none the wiser when or if the calendar will arrive.

    • Pam says:

Mine actually arrived yesterday around 7pm. DPD driver threw it on my doorstep and sped off. I thought that it was going to be delivered via Royal Mail?

    • David D says:

Same here – haven’t received as yet. I did email customer service yesterday but no response as yet. I see the web page doesn’t give you the option to chat anymore as they have sold out.

    • Steve says:

Mine arrived on Tuesday by DPD (ordered Friday 4pm ish). They hadn’t put any email address/mobile number details in though, so I didn’t get any of the usual delivery/timeslot updates from DPD.

    • jek says:

Mine has arrived a few hours ago via DPD.

    • bitolux says:

Purchased mine on Friday afternoon and it arrived via DPD on Tuesday.

AmEx Travel offer – used on the last day of the offer (29 Nov). Auth holds still present on the account, but not the actual charges and the “you’ve user the offer” emails haven’t triggered. Now offers are showing as expired on two cards 😕

    • Andrew says:

You’ll probably need to call them in a couple of weeks if no credit shows, that particular offer is incredibly slow to credit and I think emails have stopped now anyway.

    • Vit says:

Just keep screenshot of the offer, just in case. I wouldn’t be too worried. I did transaction on the 19th Nov and it was not clear for more than a few day later but once cleared the transaction date shown as the 19th Nov and credit was posted on the 25th Nov.

    • Maciek says:

      Thanks both 🙂

    • aDifferentSimon says:

I got my confirmation email at 2359 on the 29th. I’m nervous! I could have sworn it ended on the 30th. Never typed my details so fast, was gutted when it wanted the names of all the travellers!

  • Gavin says:

50x Nectar points from Ebay now updated activity as well as balance in app

  • Rui N. says:

I’m almost reaching the £10k spending on my BAPP to get the 2-4-1. I was thinking of then downgrading to the free card and move my spending to the gold card. If by any chance there is a refund that takes me below the £10k, will Amex take the 2-4-1 away from me?

    • Alex says:

Nope, once it’s in your account it’s yours. Basically next year it’ll be more. So for example if you get a £2000 refund. Next year you’ll need to spend £12K to trigger it, not 10.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Just cancel it and go for a platinum if you qualify for the bonus (2 years without an MR) or stick with gold if you don’t.

  • Blindman says:

    Amex Plat Q

Mrs B is getting close to the 60K MR bonus and do not need the card after this (i have mine to do nextt)

Not decided where to credit these MR to at this moment:-

To keep the MR points as an option for a few months.should she

1 Downgrade to Gold and keep for another year?
    2. Open a Green Amex (IIRC)
3 Close and transfer to where? (Already have Virgin, BA and AA) Emirates?

    Thanks

Hi folks, I’m searching on avios.com for Aer Lingus reward tickets DUB to NYC. Finding plenty of availability in economy but none at all in business on any dates that I’ve tried ☹️. Are there any ‘tricks’ to finding availability on this route? TIA

    • Rob says:

Ring BA. BA has access to different availability.

It’s a stupid system. Go to the United Airlines website and you will see plenty of Lingus business class seats bookable for their members.

  • Pete M says:

If anyone is planning to come to Berlin (I know you gave up on it, Anna!), you may want to reconsider: the Berlin Senate agreed on Tuesday to close clubs, bars, restaurants and cultural and leisure facilities. No date set for it yet. https://www.exberliner.com/berlin-english-news-blog/

Broader national measures being considered today as well: https://www.thelocal.de/20211202/german-leaders-set-to-finalise-emergency-covid-plan/

My favourite German quote this week: “We want to prohibit more”.

    • Anna says:

I’m gutted not to see Nefertiti but the writing was on the wall really 😔

      • DanGK says:

        Pun intended?!

      • Lady London says:

My best experience in Berlin! hard to believe she’s that old.

That, and the Egyptian Museum in East Berlin. Saw both a few years before the Wall came down.

    • Simon says:

I went to Frankfurt last week- just for the day- and was taken out of the immigration queue and asked specific reasons why I was visiting- the ‘worthy cause’ clause (Claus- pun intended) was used. I have also cancelled a weekend to Copenhagen this weekend as you now need a ‘worthy cause’ to visit Denmark- drinking glogg and visiting the markets is not ‘worthy’!!

      • Jen T says:

I’ve just checked the Danish government website and the FCO website and can’t see the change to ‘worthy cause’. Can you please tell me where you found that information?

  • NSL says:

Points are due to be awarded for anyone that had filled out 6 or more Marriott Bonvoy “POV” surveys by 30/11.

Just checked and I filled out 5. FFS.

    • TJ says:

I wonder if anyone received and completed 6+ surveys?

    • Guernsey Globetrotter says:

Well I only did one so at least I wasted less time !

      • Guernsey Globetrotter says:

Not too bothered about missing out on points but quite impressed that the potential reward was 15k points. It will incentivise me to participate in future…
