We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I had booked 4 redemption flights (2 with avios and 2 with amex 2-4-1 vouchers). BA cancelled the flights – and all flights for the whole month – so I just can’t travel. I am supposed to contact them to get a ‘future travel voucher’. Just wondering what to expect given circumstances? I am not too keen to get a “refund” as my vouchers are due to expire and I basically wouldn’t be able to use them without these flights.

An FTV is not a refund.

It maintains shout cash, avios and 2-4-1 within it so the 2-4-1 won’t expire.

As the flights have been cancelled you can ask BA to rebook you for a future date as well.

        Your not shout!

        • Bach says:

Thank you. I’m not sure when I can go there so rebooking is a bit difficult – otherwise would have been an easy choice indeed.
So you are saying the FTV will hold cash, avios and 2-4-1, so I could use them for any other flights in future to other destination – paying the difference in avios?

When dies the 241 expire? If you don’t know when you want to rebook for then the next best option is to take the full cash/avios/241 refund and then book a JER to LHR with your 241. Then cancel it to be given a FTV which will hold your 241. Doing it this way means you extend the 241 voucher expiry and tie up the least amount of avios and cash.
