We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Spent £5k on the BA Acc Bus Card but haven’t received the bonus (have spent 7k so far since opening).

Called Amex twice and they insist on waiting 90 days *facepalm*

Is this a case where I should HUACA for a 3rd time?

    • Rob says:

The bonus on this card is awarded by Avios. Amex tells Avios to give you the bonus. It is different to the personal BA cards where the 50k is added to your ‘pending’ balance by Amex and sent over. If you sit it out, it should show up at some point.

    • Ant says:

Mine appeared in my BA account when the statement was issued.

  • John says:

I’ve picked up a thread that all cancelled IHG Rewards Card customers have not had points transferred in the last couple of months – has this been explicitly stated anywhere? I have my most recent statement that states “IHG Rewards Pointes Earned this month: 3890.
Points will be added to your IHG Rewards account.”

They (Creation) cannot renege on this legitimate spending? Some of this is bonus points spent in an IHG hotel.

    • StevieKicks says:

Their terms say they don’t have to award points if your account isn’t in good order. So if they are saying we’re not in good order they can get away with it

(Not sure what constitutes good order)

Is there a date all BA LH planes will be CS? In particular 777s?

  • Can says:

Sir Keir wants predeparture tests back to save Christmas.
    Pffff….

    • Andy says:

Seems to make sense to me. Would help keep borders open.

      • Rich says:

Governments keep borders open, but it would more effectively keep cases out. But why bother if cases here are already high?

        • The Canuck says:

If your bathtub is overflowing because you left it running and your basement to flood do you say “Why bother turning off the tap there’s so much water in the house any way…”?

          • Rich says:

Terrible analogy Canuck, one has much more control over a water tap than an invisible virus! My point is that if a virus is spreading widely in a country of 60 million then a few cases from travellers won’t make much difference. And if herd immunity is your goal then they could be seen as a positive. I’m looking for reasons to keep people flying, not hamper them.

          • Darko says:

because the water then multiplies even if you close the tap so yes, closing the tap is pointless, but this is such a terrible analogy that I have no words…

  • Tracy says:

Just noticed on a Trump Turnberry booking I have that there is a message stating that the hotel will be leaving the Marriott system on 15th Jan 2022

I’ve asked Curve on the app chat facility, but not heard back yet. In the meantime I thought I would ask the question here also. I’ve not found anywhere in the app which keeps a log of fronted transactions, although I could have easily have missed it – I seem to discover new things almost all the time in the app. Does this feature exist and if so, please share where it is. With tomorrow bringing about changes on the Metal card it seems something which to me is important.

    777 CW as a couple with a baby in a 4 row 2-4-2 setup
    Do I go for 1E + 1F or 4E + 4F? Won’t be using bassinet as too small which is in 4E.
I was thinking row 4 as no one’s in front of you as it’s the last row and you face backwards.

And E+F am have aisle access without jumping over anyone right?

    • ChrisC says:

Your choice may be limited by the availabilty of seats with an extra O2 mask for the baby

      • Benilyn says:

Thanks didn’t think of that. Answering my own Q, row 4 is the ones I go for.

        • Joe says:

Even if too small for bassinet, BA have these baby boxes for the really small ones. I’d go with row 4…

I recall Rob wrote about this a while ago but the delay in posting the BAH double TP offer does count retrospectively doesn’t it? My membership year ends next week and I need 10 points for the next tier – the double TPs from my flights last week will do it once they post and if they count for this year not next. Has anyone got first hand experience either way? Otherwise a MAN – LHR TP run will be required.
