We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Has anyone used Randox in person COVID test at Finsbury Circus. I need to take an in person test before I fly to Dubai next week so thought id see if anyone has used it. Advice welcome!

    • BP says:

Used Randox in person in Glasgow yesterday at about 5:30pm. In and out in less than 10 minutes – very busy but they churn through people quickly. Turned up 20 minutes late and it wasn’t a problem. Results arrived 6am this morning for the cheapest PCR results by 23:59 next day service.

      • Ben says:

Brilliant. I was worried as they are a the cheapest and one of the larger providers.
        Appreciate it

    MBNA Horizon

Sorry for my abysmal memory here, but would any kindly HFPer remind me when MBNA Horizon pays out any annual accrued cashback? Is it in January each year, or at another time? Many thanks in advance!

  • Safety Card says:

Can someone confirm the current costs for using a Metal Curve linked to the virgin atlantic credit card for taking euros out of an ATM in Europe?

  • Alex says:

Avios I’ve been waiting for for nearly a week (Amex BA card) have posted into my BAEC account.

    • Simon says:

Ditto. Except mine only left yesterday – barely 24 hours. My 241 also arrived with the 30 month expiry on it….. May 2024. so hopefully BAEC systems are coming back to normality…..

    • ATP says:

Mine posted today after 8 days so perhaps wait 10 days before chasing up.

  • Tom H says:

Didn’t catch an answer yesterday so apologies for asking this again:

When converting a BA FTV into a new redemption ticket, do I have to book both outbound and return legs at the same time, or can I call up to reserve outbound and return availability separately at T-355 respectively as is the case for a conventional redemption? Thanks again.

    • Kim says:

You can call & reserve outbound first and book the return separately when available. I did this yesterday

  • Rma says:

If you are travelling to USA, does taking a test 3 days before travel mean 3 calendar days, or 3 days before flight time? Also, what happens if your flight is delayed?
I wasn’t able to clarify this online so would be grateful if anyone knows the answer. Thanks

  • Crafty says:

Today is the day (I think) that we say goodbye to Tesco Bank current accounts.

RIP to a brilliant points earner.

  • Robert Brooks says:

On Friday 19th November I felt LHR-FRA and returned on the 20th. The return flight has already been credited to my BAEC but the outbound, which should have given me enough to get Bronze hasn’t. How long should I leave it until getting in touch with BA?

    • AJA says:

You’ve left it long enough already and can do it today. Use the missing Avios form on the website.
