We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Has anyone used Randox in person COVID test at Finsbury Circus. I need to take an in person test before I fly to Dubai next week so thought id see if anyone has used it. Advice welcome!

  • Shaw West says:

Early Warning! Barclays changing their Premier Banking Offering. Just filled out a survey for a £20 Amazon reward card about how likely I would continue with the offering with changed benefits and pricing plan

    • Tom says:

… are you planning on enlightening us?

      • Shaw West says:

They have shown a new leaflet with the changed benefits. I was more focussed on the £20 amazon card and didn’t download the leaflet :(. Survey was focussed more on qualification criteria and the willingness to pay between £10 to £20 for the service if you don’t meet the criteria. Like what it used to be before when Premier banking was free if you qualified

        • Shaw West says:

Effectively trying to score another £20 amazon voucher after the VISA credit card routine 😛

        • Tariq says:

I’ve received an email with this invite, but haven’t completed it yet.

    • captaindave says:

They are making changes to the Blue Rewards scheme as well ( had an email from them ) but havnt specified what they are yet….

      • Toaster says:

Blue rewards changes due in April 2022 are fee increase from £4 to £5 , direct debit reward reduced from £7 to £5.

        • aDifferentSimon says:

that’s me switching then, I’ve yet to find anything premier. I’ll switch back for a avios offer of course if I’m eligible!

    • The Streets says:

Have you received the £20 yet

  • AJA says:

If you book a cash flight with BA and exchange for a FTV do you get an e-voucher ie one that can be used online to book another flight or is it a book over the phone job? I’m trying to work out the best way of spending in the next 24 hours to get the 10k Avios for £5k spend. I am about £700 short. Also does the spend have to be cleared on my Amex or as long as it is charged it counts?

    • John says:

      Yes you get an evoucher

    • Amy C says:

Book a free cancellation hotel on hotel.com.

      • AJA says:

Thanks both. If you book the hotel and cancel doesn’t it just credit back to the Amex? And if so wouldn’t they take the Bonus Avios back? The advantage of the BA flight for FTV, especially as it’s an e-voucher is that I am likely to book flights next year so it’s easy to spend and it also earns the 3x bonus Avios for using the Amex card on BA too.

        • Amy C says:

Yeah I’m not sure, certainly possible but I did it as that was what many suggested here 😬 . Time will tell but yes, you might be better off with the voucher.

  • Clive says:

May interest some but VS are selling PE tickets to JFK with the return routed through Boston for 553

    • Shaw West says:

Super Deal! It works out much cheaper to upgrade to UC at this fare than buying the UC outright with miles or cash

    • Andrew says:

And save £100 booking through Amex Travel

  • Alex says:

Datapoint: I have withdrawn £400 cash in UK ATMs this month using C&r&e-Virgin, all gone through well with no Cu&ve / Virgin cash advance charges. Will try and get more cash to see what happens.

    • Anastasia Beaverhausen says:

What will happen is Mr X. will grass you up and there’ll be another Bendygate.

Or Solihull Affair. The Great Hotel Robbery. The Ernie Papers. Have we decided what we’re calling it yet?

      • Alex says:

Just a scientific experiment. Theory of relativity, I’d say, proving that everything is relative.

    • Babyg says:

if you find a way to do manufactured spending, youre best to keep these things to yourself.. otherwise the words spreads and they get shut down… PS withdrawing cash to generate points in large amounts wont end well for you IMHO.

      • TGLoyalty says:

£400 is hardly a large amount in a month.

      • Bazza says:

No, don’t worry. All the card companies know what goes on. They are fine with it. Atleast thats what i have learnt on here regarding curve and IHG?

  • Tom says:

    Hi

I booked some flights for my children to Orlando on a separate booking to mine and my wives. Ours were Comp Voucher (Avios) and the Kids were Cash. Is it possible to see them in my BA Executive Club? I have added them both to my Household Account and their Exec Club numbers are on their booking.

    Thanks. Tom

    • Spurs drive me mad says:

Just log into their accounts if you know their passwords and have permission. But I’m more interested in how many wives you have ? Lol

    • Anna says:

      +1 one on the wives!
What you could do is set up one of the kid’s accounts in the BA app on one of your phones and you’ll then be able to see their booking whenever you go into the app. We do this as we often travel on separate bookings.

      • Tom says:

thanks… poor spelling… can confirm just have the one wife! I like Anna’s idea, will login in on my WIFES phone for them! thanks both for the help

  • Tom says:

Haha, Tom, you are misrepresenting Toms globally with your references to polygamy!
    Regards, (the other) Tom!

  • SteveC says:

Hi does anyone know when it will be possible to convert Avios to Nectar? Is it possible to do it via phone while the online service isn’t working ?
