We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Morning all. After three weeks in Singapore I see we’re still having to learn further letters in the Greek alphabet. Am I correct that the only advantage of VeriFly is being able to check in online vs presenting at the check in desk?

    • Rich says:

Yes, it makes the whole process slicker in my experience.

    • Polly says:

We couldn’t even get on verify before flying out here last week…but smooth check in in F anyway. BTW are you still at the Hyatt? we are up the street from you…

Anyone planning to visit the Netherlands in the next 3 weeks may (like me) want to reconsider.

    https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/11/coronavirus-in-the-netherlands-what-you-need-to-know-november-26/

“The Netherlands will be virtually locked down from 5pm to 5am, with all but essential shops and services shut.”

    • Ian M says:

Yeah, looks like a place to avoid!

And the Netherlands has a double jabbed rate of 84.9% for over 18s!

Flying Club to Hilton transfer, anyone else’s waiting? I sent mine 10 Nov, still not posted yet.

    • BJ says:

,#Vit commented on delays last night but fidget say how long.

    • Vit says:

Sent mine on 6th. Still no sign. I hope it won’t take more them more than a month to post.

    • Doog1000 says:

Same thing but from Hilton Barclaycard – maybe ominous given comments yesterday from someone who had card closure warning due to Bendy usage – for me statement closed Nov 22 and still nothing

      • John Caribbean says:

Mine posted on 22nd as per usual and I would expect I’m in the bad books (should they exist)

Do we know which hotel will be used for quarantine for Heathrow arrival again?

    • roberto says:

There are many , in fact I spoke to an uber driver earlier this year whose uncle was due to fly into LHR from Pakistan when it was on the red list. The guy had to change his flight as there was no spaces at any quarantine hotel at that stage. Off the top of my head Novotel , Renaissance London Heathrow, Radisson Blu l near Heathrow and St. Giles. There a another near Hatton cross and one more at T4 but not had my coffee yet and still running lumpy.

Needless to say that the Sofitel is not one of the quarantine places this time round , their prices are SKY high currently, I was quoted £400 for a room one night when I checked recently.

      • Andrew H says:

This week I picked up two single nights for £127 each on Hotels.com, plus double Hotels.com rewards.

  • ChrisBCN says:

Good morning all! Does anybody know what time the Vueling “bring your flight forward” starts? Is it always at midnight or does it vary depending on timezone?

  • James says:

I never made any complaint to Creation re: closing my account but I intended too. My annual fee was taken in August and it’s been refunded this week without a fight. Perhaps the points they haven’t posted will just post without a fight as well come 3rd December ? It would seem stupid to credit the fee but not the points earned when that’s the thing that wasn’t mentioned on the letter when they said we could keep using it?

  • Richk says:

May be old news, but had a letter from creation yesterday to say they are refunding my my £99 fee for cancelling my IHG credit card.

    • Jonathan says:

Quite a few reports of this since Wednesday but only for people charged fee from August onwards so far. Does that apply to you?

      • KD says:

Same here, I wonder if they will just post our points and be done with it. They should have said in the letter you can continue using card but not earn points.

      • Richk says:

Yes. Fee was 2 weeks prior to letter cancelling card.

      • Anastasia Beaverhausen says:

My fee was July. No refund so far.

    • BP says:

I paid mine in April and no refund has been made. I made clear in my complaint that refunding the fee isn’t enough, I want my free night and points. I would not have put the spend through this card otherwise.

      • JDB says:

If your complaint goes to the FOS, the published decision should make for intriguing reading, like Mr C’s Amex Shop Small antics if your posts that started all these closures were anything to go by!

      • CreationAreDreadful says:

How do you make a complaint properly ?
I’ve sent a few emails but hear nothing back.

    • Ian M says:

They took my annual fee on 21st July. No refund for me as yet
