Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn 50 Nectar points (31 Avios) per £1 at eBay this lunchtime

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

A quick reminder that, if you are targeted, Nectar and eBay are running their slightly crazy Black Friday offer today.

For one hour – between noon and 1pm today (Friday) – you will receive 50 Nectar points per £1 you spend.

This offer only seems to be available via the Nectar app under ‘Partner Offers’, although not for everyone. If you don’t see it in the app, try registering via this page of the Nectar website.

The base earning rate at eBay is 1 Nectar point (0.625 Avios) per £1 spent. With this offer, you would receive 50 Nectar points worth 31.25 Avios per £1 spent.

Importantly, as with all recent Nectar / eBay offers, there is a cap of 300 base Nectar points per transaction. This means that you will only earn the bonus on the first £300 you spend. Your Nectar earning is capped at (£300 x 50) 15,000 points which would convert into 9,375 Avios.

If you value an Avios at 1p, you are getting a 31% rebate on your spending.

What is the small print?

Before you can earn Nectar points from eBay, you need to link your Nectar and eBay accounts via the link on this page and register for the offer via the Nectar app.

There is a £10 minimum spend required. Only ‘Buy It Now’ items will qualify.

You can only earn the bonus on one ITEM. It isn’t clear what happens if you put multiple items in your basket.

The standard eBay rules on excluded categories will apply. Full details of excluded categories are here.

The eBay home page is here. You can find out more about the Nectar partnership, and link your card, on this special eBay page.

Be careful everyone – both mine and OH saved ebay offer had unsaved – i have resaved it now but is worth checking!

    • Walty says:

I saved my offer a couple of days ago. Not showing saved anymore and only have 5x points now. Tried Rob’s link but not working

      • Tom says:

Exactly the same here. I had definitely saved it on Nectar, it’s now disappeared and I’m only offered a 5x points offer. However, the 50x offer appears on the ebay home page when I log into my account.

        • Mark says:

I’m the same. Was planning to make a purchase just now….

          • Walty says:

Yeah got sorted now that it showed on the ebay homepage. 6150 points bagged. Thanks

        • phil says:

I had the same but it was lower down the list (trying to hide it)… reactivated and stayed on my mobile. when i brought what i wanted (for £135) it showed me 6750 nectar so its worked (as long as they also post in a few days)

      • mark says:

how did you get it sorted? my was no longer showing and I cannot add the offer again.

  • stevenhp1987 says:

New hard drive ordered. It said on the page that I will earn 6500 Nectar points.

Not bad at all considering I was going to buy it from Amazon and it’s the same price on ebay via Currys!

    • Duncan says:

Glad you left this comment! You reminded me that we needed new drives for our server. Didn’t think there was anything I needed!

  • Rich says:

Bonus points show on the purchase page. Paypal payment wasn’t working for me, but direct payment by card OK.

  • J says:

Just to confirm the earlier post – I ordered two lots of the same idea and got bonus points for both.

  • Scott says:

I just bought a 4k boxset, so 2000 points there.
Don’t really need anything else. Bought a printer a couple of weeks ago and got 1300 Avios + a few 100 Nectar points for that, and that was my “big” purchase as my old printer died on me.

    • Scott says:

Checked my order and it says 200 points.
The 50x offers, as with others was unsaved.
Did try another item, and that came up as 200 points as well.

Will see what I get. Should have screen shotted the order before I placed it in case I need to chase things up.

      • Scott says:

All subsequent orders seem to be at 5x, so no idea if it went through or not.

  • Karen says:

Had item up on Ebay ready to go but Nectar points didn’t change after noon so thought I’d better check. Had to log into Nectar and use the Visit Website button to get it to change to the 50x points.

  • Stagger Lee says:

Just ordered the Dyson Vacuum I was going to order anyway and have picked up 14000 points. Nice 🙂

  • calz says:

I activated the offer in my ebay account. Showed 50x nectar points for only the more expensive item in my basket

    • Grant says:

Similar experience. I had two items from one seller in my basket for £155 along with other items from other sellers for another £100 or so. I only received the x50 bonus on the two, singularly more expensive, items from the one seller.

    • J says:

If you buy more than one of the same item, you get the bonus across all items.
