We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Just had an email offering me 25% off Trump Turnberry vouchers “as a loyal customer” (who’s never actually visited!). Code is BLACKFRIDAY, if anyone’s interested!

For everyone that replied yesterday night to my post about staying at Marina Bay Sands – thank you! Also very happy that Polly is out and enjoying a glass of champagne!

Will book the St Regis in Singapore instead – no Marriott points left though :(. If anyone’s stayed, would be good to hear any reviews.

I’ve stayed at the St Regis in KL (first time in one) and thought it was amazing!!

    • David says:

I stayed there – loved it ! Complain about something random and get a free Bentley to the airport.

      • Polly says:

        Cheeky!

Tnx trader 363, hope you don’t get a welcome call from the MOH.. best of luck…

MBS got bad reviews. Check the Milelion blog if you want any in depth reviews of other premium hotels.

    • Mark says:

Carousell is the Singapore Depop. If you’re in Singapore you can snag a room for <200SGD on Carousell. It’s mainly free rooms given away by MBS to gamblers. Totally legit but depends how comfortable you are with the arrangement.

    • Mark says:

Also StR is seriously aging in my view. Would check out Andaz, Kempsinki, JW Marriott South Beach.

    • Dubious says:

MBS tends to have it’s fiar share of package holiday tour groups. It’s that kind of hotel in disguise.

  • Benilyn says:

Any codes / ideas for LHR airport transfer in London? (or I’ll just take bolt maybe). Any for Addisson Lee? (don’t have Plat!)

  • Save East Coast Rewards says:

Some sources are claiming Italy is looking to bringing back compulsory masks outdoors. I thought it was generally considered that masks outdoors in well ventilated spaces were pointless particularly when social distancing is also in place.

They’re also considering removing the testing option on the ‘green pass’ you need to go to any indoor venues (even sitting inside a takeaway), currently if you’re not double vaccinated you have the option to take a test within 48 hours before you go somewhere requiring the green pass.

I’m double vaccinated but I did this before the green pass rules came in. I don’t think people should be forced into something. I did it out of choice and absolutely hate having to show the pass everywhere.

Now we’re entering the vaccine treadmill with boosters.

I’m still in the US (Florida) and it’s so odd how each state has approached it. Florida you’d pretty much think covid didn’t exist as there appears to be no restrictions outside of the airports, but I read on here that NY requires vaccine proof and masks to do just about anything.

I’m all for temporary restrictions when this virus was new and unknown but there has to be a point when freedom is more important.

    • Rich says:

We all just have to roll with it hey? Whatever our view we have zero influence. I’ve just returned from Dubai and use of masks is compulsory in most places including outdoors at Expo and I respect that.

      • TGLoyalty says:

The problem with that view is that as a collective you DO have influence.

      • Save East Coast Rewards says:

I think we all have the right to have an opinion of the rules in the place you live and pay taxes which for me is currently Italy, it’s different if you’re visiting another country well aware of the rules. Last year Italy had strict but sensible covid rules (well compared to the UK), this year we’ve had more restrictions over the summer than in 2020 despite most of us being vaccinated

    • Andrew says:

It was certainly a joy being in Florida last week where no one wore masks anywhere apart from the airport (where it’s federal law). I make a point of selecting my travel destinations based on mask requirements as it’s no holiday for me constantly wearing a mask when I don’t have to where I live.

  • Super Secret Stuff says:

Easyjet have launched there black Friday sale, £100 off holidays. The majority of holidays I’ve looked at show a genuine saving albeit £70 to £90 compared to a week ago
