We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I have hit £5k spend for 10k bonus Avios, how long does it take for these to post please. It is obviously close to the final date for spend and would like to ensure all sorted beforehand. Thanks

  • Dani says:

Tbh… I would consider Premier Inn T4..connected to T4 by a direct walkway and take the tube to t5..

    • Dilbert says:

You’d need to double check that before booking, as I could have sworn the Piccadilly line station at T4 was closed when we passed through a few weeks ago. Might have been mistaken though.

  • Mjshort says:

    Any Eurostar points ideas please?

    • Rob says:

In what sense?! We have done a lot of articles on Club Eurostar.

    • John says:

Can transfer to others for free in multiples of 100, sometimes worth paying a little more to get to a multiple of 100 if your friends travel infrequently

  • Can says:

Please tell me what to do. I ended up in a small town in northern England for work and Hampton was the only option. So I booked as a Diamond.
At check in I asked about the possibility of an upgrade. They offered me a paid upgrade. I took it as I was tired. I told them I am Diamond and often get free upgrades. They said no. They were busy. Funny thing the upgrade was available anyway — the one I paid for.
In the morning I asked about late check out. They said it is £10 per hour. I said I am diamond. They said it doesn’t matter. But I took it again.
Can I complain to Hilton? It was my first time at a Hampton.

    • Yorkie Aid says:

Blimey, did they charge you for the free breakfast too? 🙂

    • Benilyn says:

Free to complain go for it, let us know how you get on.

    • Mark says:

Upgrade isn’t a benefit in a Hampton but the late check out should be.

      • Blenz101 says:

Late checkout is also subject to availability. Sounds like they let you pay housekeeping to stay late by the hour. If the stay was for work just expense both.

What upgrade did you get / were you expecting? Did you pay a cash upgrade to have a sofa bed in your room in addition to your main bed. I only ask as I didn’t think Hampton really did premium rooms.

You can complain and perhaps HH will throw some points at you though. No hard in asking. Someone today has posted the email address for Diamond customer services.

It’s rather like the daily PP posts for lounge access. You can pay and get upgraded and enjoy a late checkout but not as a perk of membership.

    • Harry T says:

No upgrades at Hamptons. Late checkout is subject to availability.

      • Harry T says:

Also, Hamptons don’t really have better rooms, so you’ve been played hard here.

        • TGLoyalty says:

Was going to say upgrade isn’t a benefit because there arent any real upgrades.

I’ve always been given a bigger room / the better view though as diamond.

          • Can says:

Yeah. I booked the cheapest room and was expecting a little upgrade to a bigger room.

          • TGLoyalty says:

Best to actually name the property so everyone can stay clear.

          • Anna says:

Can we ask which northern town? I find they don’t come across many golds and diamonds up here, especially if the hotel is fairly new. We tend to get treated as a bit of a novelty. Even the Doubletree Chester spa lady seemed surprised when I asked about free access for golds the other day while booking treatments.

          • Mick S says:

I’m going to take a guess at being the Hampton Inn in either Blackburn or Blackpool

    • Gormlesstraveller says:

“250 Hilton Honors Bonus Points per stay or choice of snack and non-alcoholic beverage” is the only My Way benefit for Diamond guests

    • Can says:

It was Stockton on Tees. Yes, as a Diamond I managed to get some snacks.
New property, small rooms, busy and high school style breakfast, which was not too bad. I still can’t believe it I paid £110 per night for it though. They said some comedy act was in town. So it was really busy.

  • Roger says:

BA Claim Missing Avios form does nor seem to work for partner airlines.
It is 14 days since the flight and the button to submit the claim is greyed out.
BA helpline also does not seem to work.
    Anyone found a work around?

  • Idrive says:

Morning everyone! Has any of you received miles protection from Lufthansa Miles&More in October? My last one was in September

  • Dominic says:

    Morning all!

Stupid question of the day… when Amex Travel says ‘Baggage Allowance: 1 piece’, is this referring to checked baggage?

  • Js says:

Why does amex travel use a visa for there easy jet bookings?
(are they earning points on the spend?)
