We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Stayed over at the Four Points Sheraton Gatwick and all in all rather nice. Rooms smartly decorated and included iron, ironing board with slippers, dressing gown and small window to the side. Plenty of towels in the shower room which was a good size. Kettle but no coffee maker. On the ground floor is a compact food-to-go area and a pub. Drinks purchased from both outlets earned six points per pound on the Marriott amex. Breakfast included cereals, cheeses, fresh fruit and a cooked to order full English.

All in all it’s a very nice offering. Unfortunately, they keep closing it down for the Home Office use for months at a time so not sure how that’s going to pan out.

Old Travelodge. One reason to avoid. The walls will still be paper thin. Another reason to avoid is that it won’t have had proper cleaning during its time as a quarantine hotel. It will be a long while before I choose to stay there

      • Blenz101 says:

By definition those quarantining, kept in isolation and regularly tested are going to be covid free before the room is used again and they are released.

If you are worried about catching covid from lack of cleaning then I would suggest a non-quarantine hotel which has recently housed a resident of plague island would be far more risky.

        • Bill says:

It’s not covid I’m concerned about. It’s the rodents. As seen I. The Mercure Heathrow. Anywhere used for quarantine is now on my avoid list until it’s been repeatedly cleaned

Still thinking another BAEC extension in the offing… Time will tell

  • Phil says:

I’ve just amended a Marriott redemption for next year, for which I currently don’t have sufficient points.

Completing the amendment threw up the option of buying the required points – despite me having bought my full allowance of points this year. How you feel about the 1p a point being charged depends on what you’re getting. In my case it got me 3p a point of value – so I’ll take that.

    • YC says:

errr… its currently being sold for c.0.64p/point in the promo… If your maxed out, you can get OH/friend to buy 100k and transfer to you for free

Anyone aware of a VPN that can stream DAZN Canada? Nordvpn doesn’t work.

    • SLL says:

      ExpressVPN works.

    • Worksop Dave says:

Express vpn works for pretty much everything I’ve ever tried. If a server doesn’t work then you can contact them on live chat and they’ll sort it out

    • Andy says:

Second express vpn, use it for Skygo and never had any issues

      • Shaw West says:

Spoke to them. They do support Dazn Canada with a 30 day money back guarantee.Pricey, will wait for Blackfriday 🙂

    • Mick S says:

Try amending your DNS settings. I had an issue with nordvpn blocking bbc iPlayer and Amazon video. Nordvpn gave me some new dns entries and everything works again

      • Shaw West says:

Not Dazn canada. I did speak to them, but they said DAZN canada is not avbl. I use it for Netflix and Peacock.

A320neo business class is standard economy seating right? I’m thinking exit row seat in economy is going to be much more comfortable for 5 hours to Cairo than business class.

Does anyone have a link to the sworn statement currently used for entry to France as a fully vaccinated adult? Thanks

  • Bill says:

Data point – I was holding a cash reservation for the last family room available at a Radisson. I transferred my Amex Rewards Points to Radisson which took 2 days. Once the points arrived at Radisson i then cancelled the cash booking. 37 minutes later the released room was available to book using cash or points. The 2 day transfer was my 2nd transfer. The first took a couple of days longer
