Planning a trip to Paris for Spring (not been for 18years) 2 or 3 nights via Eurostar, for hotel I can book using the Amex Travel £100CB as I only have Hotel status from Amex Plat. Budget around £200/250pn, just want to be reasonable central to eat, drink and take in the sights. Any hotel recommendations and advice much appreciated.

  I like the Indigo Opera – just round the corner from Rob’s former favourite hotel (The Intercontinental) Handy for the Roissy bus straight from the airport and in a car-free cul-de-sac, so nice and quiet. Rooms OK size too.
  
  Nice restaurant just across the main road opposite the end of the cul-de-sac – does a great burfundy by the half bottle!

Has anyone had a Global Entry application approved from the initial Pending status recently? If so, how long ago did you initially submit your application?

  last figure I saw on flyer talk was an averge of 140 days so 4 – 5 months.
  
  The days of it being approved in a couple of weeks have long gone.

  You are basically buying points with discount that tally with the base points for your flight.

  Depends on the p/mile rate – I did it once when they had a promotion running so it either ended up at 0.6 or 0.8 p/mile which I then managed to use almost immediately for an ANA booking. If I had no immediate use for them, not sure I would have done the same

  It’s gone now I was there in the first week of November and was told it was the last week. I was told by one of the people working there that they were being TUPEd (is that the correct term in this situation?) over to the new WH Smith run operation but that’s more for accessories than things like computers/phones/tablets.
