We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Very basic BA Avios booking question: is there an advantage (e.g. in fees and/or cancellation fees) to booking a flight to Europe as a return rather than 2x one way? I’m not yet sure which return flight I want and the outbound that I’m sure of is selling out, so I don’t know if I should just book that as a one way now.

    • SteveJ says:

Often it’s cheaper on taxes to book two one ways. Depends on your Destination. Just put in random dates to see. Downside is if you need to amend/cancel you’re on the hook for two sets of fees. And probably other disadvantages like them having no obligation to rearrange your return if they change your outbound.

Lots of availability to South Africa with British Airways opened up overnight for Avios, both JNB & CPT.

6 business seats showing on most flights through the end of the schedule, good for those looking to use 241’s

    • Jonathan says:

Cape Town clearly didn’t last long although JNB still looking wide open.

  • Paul says:

For those that have been asked for X, Y & Z from Curve as a result of NS&I ‘top-ups’, what has been the outcome?

Initially told they had frozen my account until I could prove income.
They never did freeze it, I sent a statement showing a large cash deposit & they emailed several weeks later (today) to say account is now unfrozen.

Hi all, does anyone know how I can download a certificate of insurance for the Amex Plat travel insurance? I have tried going on to the AXA website and entered my long card number where it says ‘Check cover & Download Insurance Certificate’ but it only tells me what I am covered for with no option to download the certificate..

I’m just cancelling 3 club seats to Miami from LHR fly out 27 July 2022 and return 7/8 hope that might be of use to someone.

  • Alex says:

Anyone tried to access Creation’s site for their IHG card? I had an Apple transaction fail this morning. Can’t log into the site (doesn’t load) and customer services line totally swamped, wait times of over 60 minutes. Pretty annoying!

  • r* says:

Anyone transferred points from amex to flying blue recently? How long did it take?

  • Louise says:

Had an ebay bonus reward added to my nectar card today, anyone else? Email says there was an issue that has now been resolved. A larger amount than i thought i was missing!

    • Travel Strong says:

Yes, had a random +300 credited. I do not track what credits from ebay though, so could be right or wrong.

12 Nectar per £ this weekend on ebay though! (Targetted to a degree, certainly only marketed to those who already have nectar card linked to ebay account). Gone from 6, to 8, to 10, to 12 each week.
