We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I need to provide a lateral flow test next week for my 2 day netherlands trip? Does any one if I can use simply test me lateral flow day 2 prior to trip then on return to UK? TIA

    • Pablo says:

Day 2 validation email from simplytestme won’t have the time and date when you took the swab so cannot be used as fit to fly. Use chronomics or Excalibur (via jet2 web) as fit to fly and simply test me as day 2.

I think NL also has to be a supervised lateral flow before entry. They need various details about the test which I think means it has to be supervised rather than unsupervised.
They are also likely to have a partial lockdown imposed tonight to start tomorrow so if it’s a holiday trip you might want to rethink.

Anyone got a sign up code for Addison Lee? Cheers

For those who are travelling to Phuket and were asking about RT PCR test on arrival I booked ours through http://www.thailandpsas.com 2400 thai baht done at Phuket airport and then apparently they will also give you a lateral flow test to take with you for day 6 to complete at the hotel. You will need to download the Mor Chanda app and register on gophuket. The results of the PCR test take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours at the moment before you can leave the hotel.
I received my Thailand Pass QR code yesterday so sigh of relief as it wasn’t the easiest form to complete.

Well done. We are in the process of finalising our VTL passes for Singapore next week. Got the VTP but now need the health pass. A lot of paperwork, and just hope we have a negative PCR on arrival…

Flying to LHR-JFK on BA173 tomorrow. Apparently a 772 but none of the seat maps on seatguru appear to match the layout with the five rows of pairs at at the back of the ET cabin. Is this a new refurb or something?

How long does it usually take to receive Priority Pass after receiving amex card? I got my platinum card a week ago but still didn’t get priority pass.

CP Paris Republique – is the lounge any good, and are children allowed?
Is it typically a good place for Spire?
    Thanks

    • Rob says:

There’s a big Flyertalk thread on this in the IHG forum. Hotel has had a big refurb in recent years so should be in decent shape. It’s walkable to the Eurostar station in 30 minutes.

      • John Caribbean says:

Thanks Rob. Some poor googling on my part originally caused me to miss that

  • High Grade says:

I’m in Amsterdam for a long weekend. Rearranged about 4 times since our original booking in May 2020. Just seen the news they start a new lockdown from tomorrow. Does this mean airport lounges closed on Sunday? Was looking forward to my first trip to KLM lounge 52.
Ps. Got a nice upgrade, bottle of wine and chocolates in room, plus a drinks voucher for €15 all on a points booking at Kimpton De Witt.

    • ChrisC says:

I should have been there this week and weekend but cancelled because I’m ill!

      I miss the De Witt.

Well… I’m confused. Travelling to Vienna on Sunday and got an email from BA telling me to upload various COVID documents… they imply that I require both a vaccination certificate AND a PCR test, but nothing I see suggests this is true. Any idea on this?

    • Pete M says:

BA do that for Germany too – if it’s not required just state so on the form, should go through fine.

      • Duncan Stevenson-Price says:

Thanks Pete! Will give it a go and say I’m exempt.

        • roberto says:

Was in Vienna yesterday and thier 2G or 3G system requires vaccine c

          • Duncan says:

That’s OK – husband and I are double vaccinated so no problem with certificate. Just don’t believe I need a test. I followed Pete’s advice on the BA system and uploaded my vaccine certificate and said I was exempt from the test, and they’ve approved the documentation so looks like we’re good to go! 🎉

          • elguiri says:

You need a vaccine to use their mobile network? 😉
