We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Off Topic : found out today that following o2 and Virgin’s merger, Virgin Media customers can now get the o2 Priority app and benefit from the discounts / free Nero Coffee & Gregg’s etc.

    • elguiri says:

How does one partake in this? Won’t the priority app detect your sim not being on O2?

      • SteveJ says:

Install the app, new separate sign in for Virgin Media customers. All legit.

        • Elguiri says:

Thanks, worked a treat. Donald Russel deal on priority should work well with amex £10 off £50 spend.

        • davef says:

Doesnt work with Virgin Mobile login. VMedia and VMobile are different.

    • stevenhp1987 says:

Thanks, installed. Signed in and worked as a virgin media fibre customer.

Now I’ll have to get the other half an o2 priority app (payg sim with £0 still work?) or pay for an extra sausage roll from Greggs when I get my free one!

      • Yorkie Aid says:

Unfortunately the Classic PAYG tariff is no longer available to new customers so you are forced to take a big bundle or a pre-loaded data SIM which will work out at a minimum of £60 per year. So if you have any old classic PAYG SIMs hanging around do not let them expire!

        • Markpeterboro says:

I successfully bought a classic PAYG O2 SIM from eBay earlier in the year , there were loads available .it works fine and doesn’t need a bundle . This was after O2 had brought in the new rules .

Oh yum, the cubed chicken you get in the rice dishes can now be enjoyed any day of the week at home

    • BJ says:

      • Polly says:

Yep, got a few bits, saucers came without the cups tho, daft really…

        • BJ says:

Break them and you’ll have a few more … bits

          • Polly says:

Better chance of yours happening at this stage…SIn still looks dicey, if one of us fails a PCR, and my OH a smoker, not allowed out of the ing hopeful

  • billthepensioner says:

  • BJ says:

Was due to get my OAP flu jab tomorrow but I have been denied. They sent me a text cancellation message which is pretty useless as I don’t read my messages, I only found out as I forgot to write down my vaccination time so I phoned them to check & they said it had been cancelled.

That’s the second time it has gone bad – shocking service from the NHS. Couldn’t make my first vaccination appointment as I forgot the date and now they’ve only gone and cancelled my jab tomorrow, I bet I’ll get flu and die of pneumonia – that’ll show them how useless they are.

I say: defund the NHS as they are useless & go on strike because they want wages to keep up with inflation but I think that +1% is fine by most of us. Probably more than I get which is probably nothing much.

    • Roy says:

I think there is a shortage of the vaccine used for over-65s. You could try calling your local pharmacies and see if any have any left – if they have it it will still be free of charge, but I’m doubtful you will find anywhere. Boots is apparently completely out of it.

Not sure defunding the NHS is going to magically make any more flu vaccine appear…
