We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Probably discussed before but not been paying attention as it hasn’t applied to me until now.
Flying to the US from UK with BA.
    Fully vaccinated.
Is there a link to a list of approved supervised tests? If not, what are the recommended ones please.

Am I right in thinking that if I am flying on a Sunday at 14:00, I need to have taken the test anytime from Thursday14:00 onwards?

    Thanks.

  • Andrew says:

Just had a 3 emails through for my BoS and Hfx current accounts inviting me to get a £5 (total) rebate per account when I spend £10 online five times before Christmas Eve.

It’s not quite shop small, but it’s still a little extra.

    • Aston100 says:

Halifax never send me anything. I guess I must have selected no to all the marketing options years ago.

    • Toaster says:

Got this offer for Lloyds but not Halifax or BOS. Wife has same accounts and no invite for her on any accounts.

  • Alan says:

What’s currently the cheapest day 2 test on offer?

We are returning from Portugal on Monday and as we are both required to take an LFT test before returning to work don’t care about the reliability of the service etc. just need the reference number.

    • Rui N. says:

Your work requires the reference number of a LFT?!

      • Alan says:

No, we are asked to complete a NHS test once a week or before returning to the office after a break. I

t’s not checked up on but as we will be doing it anyway there is no extra value from a day 2 test.

    • Ryan says:

I think someone has got themselves in a muddle over their legal requirement and their company’s mandate (probably only a request)

Just grab a free NHS test and enter as negative if you CBA to actually do it…

    • ChrisC says:

This question has already asked and answered several times today already (and every blooming day)

  • Ex-creationist says:

I closed my curve card after it became useless to me. I had my creation card cancellation notice and after my points weren’t transferred across I paid off my balance . I’ve heard on here that some are finding that their card is closed down with their final balance written off after they have filed a complaint . With this in mind I’m thinking of putting some spending on the creation card and filing a complaint and hoping it gets wipes off

So to coin a phrase ” can I pay beardy with Solihull without having to use bendy ” I don’t want to upset Virgin by doing this but I expect the only problem would be whether or not creation view the transaction as a cash advance .

    • SteveJ says:

      No

    • TGLoyalty says:

      No. debit cards only.

      • Ex-creationist says:

Thank you all , much appreciated . I did try searching for the answer but only found evidence of it working the other way around ,so I was cautious .

    • Don says:

Like someone else on here, I e-mailed gr.corporateliaison@ihg.com to see if they cared about what was Creation was doing in the UK market. I mentioned that IHG will lose a lot of goodwill in the UK market, not to mention lost business, as points-savvy customers will take their bookings increasingly to Hilton etc. The reply was that IHG have washed their hands of this, despite the fact that they have “IHG Rewards Club” emblazoned over the card.

  • Green Plastic says:

If flying handbaggage-only from Heathrow T5 to Dublin, can you go straight through security to departures or do you need to have your documents verified landside first?

  • Hulk says:

Uber are increasing their London prices by 10% tomorrow

    • SteveJ says:

Is that to pay for the Uber Eats 10% discount being offered?!

Uber is my last resort, I try Addison Lee (for the platinum credit) and once in a blue moon get one. Then Bolt. If both fail only then is it Uber.

  • Kayla says:

    Question.

We need to book a flight to return back from Dubai next week, but not sure exactly when we will fly.

What is the policy for changing the flight at the last minute or cancelling? When is the deadline for being able to change your flights without any fee? 24 hours like Avios flights or even sooner?

    • Anna says:

Do you mean with BA? I’ve lost track of cancellation policies, I would check the website for the exact Ts and Cs.

  • Mco says:

Is the Platinum amex offer on cash-back at certain restaurant spends available to new applications too?

    • SteveJ says:

Many have reported that yes, when they get their new card a simple chat exchange or call and it’s added. But not an advertised feature so if they don’t add it, that’s tough luck it seems. Pretty good chance they will add based on recent posts though.

    • TJ says:

My wife received her Plat card the other day. A quick online chat with customer service and they added the dining offer to her card immediately. The only issue now is that a lot of the top restaurants are getting fairly booked-up for December.

    • Rob says:

Yes, people are getting it. No negative reports so far.
