We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Any flight+hotel/car on ba.com becomes a BAH booking when booked together. You’ll get an ATOL page / holiday summary at some point during the process, if you didn’t then something’s gone wrong.

Also this bit was answered yesterday, but just to avoid confusion, you need car hire or hotel for the *entire booking* which needs to be at least 5 nights.

      @Cranzle

    • Cranzle says:

Thanks. It’s confusing/unclear because if you try and book for Maldives, it clears states double tier points during the booking process, but if you try and book for Paris, it doesn’t say anything about double tier points during the booking process

Quick question, can anyone recommend a good hotel by Copenhagen airport? Also, does anyone know when the last trains from the airport go to Malmo?

    • elguiri says:

We stayed at the Park Inn by Radisson about 5 years ago. Was 2 stops by train directly from airport, and 5 stops from city centre, which was great for a quick visit when we were just overnighting before flight to BKK.

    • Sandgrounder says:

The trains run all night, but they drop to hourly after about 1am. Check there aren’t any engineering works though, there were ail replacement busses across the sound this weekend, for example.
What is good? Cheap? Functional? Super convenient? Downtown is relatively close to the airport (15 mins or so), and unlike some cities it’s a standard ticket on public transport. The metro and the trains run all night.

    • Luke says:

Clarion is in walking distance (2 mins) and is fine but pricey.

The other question. Seriously you simply need to Google the Danish railways website.

    • HH says:

A 5 minute train from the airport is the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, with nice high-floor views. It used to be one of the better IHG points redemptions considering Scandinavia hotel pricing.

Applied for a VA+ card during the recent sign-up bonus offer but was rejected at the time of application. Sent a letter to them appealing the decision as Rob suggested in his article. They overturned the original decision and approved my card but it was done after the sign-up bonus was over.

Considering my situation, will I get the 15k bonus or the enhanced 30k bonus?

    • Harry T says:

I imagine the 15k bonus, if you were approved after the enhanced bonus was withdrawn. But it’s just a case of trying it and seeing what happens with the IT.

  • Scott says:

Any recommendations of hotels in Seattle?
Might pop over for a few day in Feb or thereabouts. Not been before, so somewhere that’s easy to get to the main touristy things from (no issues walking or using public transport if need be).
May book as part of a BA holiday although would lose any Hilton or IHG benefits this way, but hey.
Not after anything too fancy. Functional, but a nice size room where I can swing a cat.

    • mark2 says:

We stayed in Hilton (a few years ago); would not recommend.
Would recommend ferry across to Bainbridge Island and coach trip into mountains.

    • Vasco says:

Stayed at the Kimpton Monaco on 2019 and would recommend, but might be dearer than you’re looking for.

      • Scott says:

That’s coming in at around £160ish/night. Much the same as I’m paying for upcoming NYC and SF stays, so not that bad.
$20/night resort fee perhaps on top?

If the evening wine tasting is free, that would take the edge off it 😉

        • Vasco says:

Definitely was free back then and I can’t imagine they changed it! It’s one of my favourite things about Kimptons in the US.

    • ChrisBCN says:

      Four seasons is good

  • Shaw West says:

Looking for a webpage that shows ATM charges by foreign banks in Europe. I do renembber it being posted here earlier last month

  • Tomgold says:

does the trick to extend BA 241 vouchers still work?

    re Simplytestme

Arrived home from a UK weekend away to find my test had arrived.

From what it said when I ordered was supposed to be delivered ready for the day of my arrival back into the UK – 15th November – from a trip to The Netherlands

Envelope mail label had ‘post by end of 11.11.21’ on it – so they definitly did that!

Test brand is ‘HEALGEN’ with expiry date of Sept 2023

    • Travel Strong says:

Just received mine 1wk early, so certainly no apparent issue with them getting the tests out!

  • Alex B says:

Does IHG have a hotel points cap or is it pure dynamic pricing (i.e. could get to 200k per night)?

    • Rob says:

InterCons seem to be capped at 100k, as does Kimpton. No at other brands I think.
