We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Apologies for posting a question that has no doubt already been asked many times but it seems like the goalposts have moved several times since I left the UK. We are returning from the US to the UK at the end of the month so I am looking to book two day 2 lateral flow test kits with booking references compatible with PLF forms. I have seen Chronomics available for £17 using a BA discount which leads me to presume they comply with the rules for PLF references. Are any HfP readers able to confirm (based on personal experience)? Many thanks for any assistance

Re yesterdays post about the nhs covid pass, has the format of the letter/certificate you receive by post also changed?

  • MarkS says:

With platinum card do you need the actual PP card to get lounge access or can you simply use the platinum card itself?

    • David says:

You need the actual PP or it’s digital version on the App.

    • Sandgrounder says:

Can be either, check on the lounge tab under membership in the amex app. The majority will need PP.

      • Sandgrounder says:

That wasn’t very clear, for some lounges you will need the actual Platinum card (eg Plaza Premium, Centurion, Lufthansa at LHR) For most you will need the PP. So check first or carry both. Or the PP app.

    • Shaw West says:

For Centurion, Delta, Eurostar and Plaza Premium you just need platinum. For others priority pass is read

    • Yvo says:

If you don’t have the physical card yet you can call and get your membership number and activate the app.

  • James says:

Can anyone recommend the cheapest fit to fly (london clinic only) as need it for Emirates. Thanks. Dont know why they dont just accept home pcrs like everyone else

    • Blenz101 says:

Because anybody could have taken a home PCR making the result and “certificate”
      completely meaningless.

    • Jen T says:

Money Saving Expert does a weekly article on cheapest tests – have a look there.

  • Sammy says:

Amex platinum dining offer was added via chat. It’s not showing on my account but they again confirmed it’s there. What restaurants can you use it on? Any list changes or things I need to be careful of? Does it need to be used in one go or can I use it on different restaurants over a few occasions? Any expiry?

  • Michael C says:

Just in case anyone fancies Xmas away, EasyJet currently have LGW-IOM (only London flight that now exists) on 23 Dec for £283.99 one way.
    Not including suitcase, sadly.

    • Anna says:

Good grief! Or you could take your chances on a jet ski.

      • John says:

Well it’s no longer illegal… As long as you send your vaccination proof in advance

  • Scott says:

Maybe a stupid question, but what is this AIRTIME? Seen it mentioned a few times.

    • SteveJ says:

Airtime rewards, the c.back accumulated can only be used to offset your mobile phone (i.e. airtime) bill. Some report that if your mobile phone provider is not supported you can get the c.back out via PayPal credit instead.

      • Rui N. says:

When I tried to register with a non-supported network it simply didn’t allow me to register. But that was a few months ago already.

    • Alex says:

Airtime Rewards. An absolutely amazing rewards app on your mobile. I have earned almost £200 over less than a year so all my mobile bill have been covered by this. Feel free to register using my referral HLU74E8B, we both get some extra rewards!

  • Andrew says:

Or spend £40 get £20 on Amex if you would prefer your money back more instantly and not via your phone bill.

    • YC says:

There was an offer to get a free bottle of gin if u renewed again. But it was ultimately charged at 39.99, the free gin reduced it by 1p so u couldn’t use both offers. It’s not mentioned anywhere so just be careful.
