The HfP chat thread – Friday 5th November

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

    US travel:
    Hopefully someone can help:
do <18 y/o need a test on days 3-5 after arrival if they are not-vaccinated and travelling with adults (in this case vaccinated)? Where can I find the answer to this question?

    • BLT says:

That would appear to be the situation at present as set out in the latest attestation form from the CDC. I gues we will find out next week how they will monitor/ record the 3-5 day test.

    • Rhys says:

Someone didn’t read our article on it very closely 😉 Children are treated the same way as their parents, so if you’re double vaccinated then your child is treated as such too, even if they aren’t. https://hfp2022.headforpoints.blog/2021/10/25/travel-vaccination-entry-rules-united-states-8th-november/

      • BLT says:

Rhys – Not sure that is now up to date. The attestation form on the CDC website has been updated and under >2<18 will be treated same as adult but will need 3-5 day test. This is what you have to agree to on the attestation form. We will find out next week and then someone may have to update their article! 😉

Has anyone travelled to St Lucia lately? Does it have to be a PCR at a covid fest centre or can we do an at home randox PCR? Thanks

No more plastic…..just received my Digital FB card…bit of a shame after all these years, but understandable. Messes up my collection…was looking to frame in a couple of years time to hang up in the toilet .
I guess BA and others will follow suit.

  • TicknBash says:

BA CS mentioned a Sale is coming in January.
Seems to be a sale every quarter now.

  • ianM says:

I see people talking about a chat facility on BA.com – can anyone tell me where it’s located I can’t find it. TIA

    • Richie says:

Go to ba.com on a mobile device, then go to help and contacts at bottom, click there and it should pop up.

      • ianM says:

Thanks will try but i’m trying to get thru to them on phone right now LOL.

How long should it take for a FTV to be confirmed? I spoke to BA on Tuesday and used a FTV with avios element for the same flight the voucher was from at end of month to ATL – she said it had to go to head office because it had been a part flown booking, she said it would be confirmed within 72 hours….it hasn’t now I need to go through the rigmarole all over again.

        • Graham C says:

We were confirmed in a day. Expired two for one voucher within a FTV. Had to pay extra taxes.

I did phone YouFirst though as it was a First redemption. Not sure if that helped the whole situation.
