The HfP chat thread – Wednesday 3rd November

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

My flight to Singapore in Feb just changed from 777 to 789 with its much smaller F cabin, no seats are available for selection. Could be the start of involuntary downgrade which I can cope with, hopefully the same will happen for the return and I can switch that to BKK free of charge. For anyone following a few days ago I gave up on Hawaii, it just got too complicated. As someone who likes everything booked well in advance, Covid is certainly messing with my OCD!

  • Michael C says:

Sorry for mini repost, but for a flight today!
-Any recent Madrid experience? I’m flying back from MAD this afternoon. Am I right in thinking all check-in etc. is at the “main” building (T1,2,3), then once through security etc. we have to get the shuttle train to the satellite terminal 4S?

    • AJA says:

No. If travelling BA or IB you check in at Terminal T4, floor P2, then take the train shuttle to T4S.

    • Rhys says:

There is a lounge in T4S as well, so you can go straight there if necessary.

      • Michael C says:

Thanks all – I’ve done the trip 20 times in the past, but someone on arrival told me all check-in was T1,2,3!
Online check-in with Iberia was a bit tricky (no luggage): had to upload vax cert, PLF and passport, but could only do this 24 hours before take-off…and the message from all this was “thanks, we’ll get back to you within 24 hours”! Randomly tried 2-3 more times this morning, and on the last one, I was able to print boarding card.

    • marcw says:

If you are flying IB/BA, you must check-in at T4 and, after security, travel via shuttle train to T4S for departures.

  • Secret Squirrel says:

I received a personal details confirmation today from Amex in the app. They stated it’s period for them to check details but this is definitely the first time for me. Does everyone get this or am I being lined up for a more in depth KYC?

  • Charlie says:

Is anybody else having issues with Nectar Connect since renewing their payment card? I haven’t received any points since doing it and have used 3 different offers……..

    • Andrew H says:

I always have to delete and relink to get any points credited. This has happened with both VACC+ and BA Amex.

Remove, relink and a day later the points appear. Their system is a bit broken

    • Super Secret Stuff says:

My Amex connection has never worked properly, go on Nectar support if it doesn’t fix itself and they will eventually credit it as a good will transaction

      • Crafty says:

Not for me, they accused me of making it up and then failed to meet their own 24 hour SLA for my complaint.

  • AJA says:

So what’s everyone’s view of GT singing “shove your climate crisis up your arse!”. Helpful or not?

  • ZF says:

Anyone else had difficulty contacting Curve? New card didn’t arrive, chat has been dead for almost a week with no response to the query.

    • The Streets says:

It can take a few weeks for a replacement card to come. It is best to message them and wait it out

    • Char Char says:

      Yes never reply!

    • Sprout says:

      Yep no answer whatsover.
I’ve sent a dozen or so e-mails and chat messages over the last 2 weeks and no reply at all.
On their last legs I guess!

      • andyT says:

I emailed Curve with an account query on 18 Oct, received a reply and resolution to problem on 20 Oct.
So I don’t understand why people post on here (today and many times previously) that Curve never reply to messages???

        • His Holyness says:

It seems it depends what you email about. I’ve emailed them about my block and had no answers for nearly 3 weeks.

  • Benilyn says:

So anyone else on statement ending yesterday with Solihull. Let’s see if posts and vouchers post…

  • Briand says:

How’s the easiest way to show the NHS vaccine status on my Android phone…rather than scrolling through the App itself…somebody said put it on WhatsApp ,but how, or any other option ? I just want a quick and easy way to show. Thanks.

    • Andrew H says:

      Screenshot?

Does an Android have a wallet like iphones?

    • Rob says:

Assuming the wallet option is there for Android, why not screenshot it and put it in your photos?

    • AJA says:

Screenshot (swipe screen from right to left with the side of your palm on Samsung, not sure what android phone you have?) and then just find it in the photo gallery.
