We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

  • John says:

How quickly should my statement credit for the Amex £200 dinning offer post?

  • Ikaz says:

I just received an email from TAP to say that my status match was accepted, only took 4 months… With the news that Ita (alitalia’s replacement) is joining skyteam and doing status matches, gives me status with all 3 alliances. Time to start planning trips for next year

  • Sloth says:

HSBC WE Bonus…when do the bonus points for initial £2k spend post? When you have spent it or on the statement date? Thanks

    • Nectar Collector says:

First statement after the three month qualifying period for the £2k spend

    • JDB says:

All regular spend points and bonuses only appear at statement time and there doesn’t seem to be any per transaction breakdown available as there is with Amex. If you get points awarded by customer service, they seem to show immediately.

    • Reney says:

For me, it was the first statement after I completed the £2k spend.

    • sloth says:

      Thanks all

  • J says:

Been a week now since I hit the spend for the BA 241 and nothing in my BA account. Everyone says 3 or so days so wondering what’s happening.

Anyone recently received theirs that can share timeline?

    Thanks

  • Grant H says:

Apologies to repeat a topic that was discussed on Thursday, applying a BA evoucher to a BA holiday booked, just received an email back from BA to say its not possible to apply post booking which I understand is not the experience of many people here? Could you please advise on the best email to contact them to apply this voucher, or is it worth calling? (Which seems difficult to get through).

    • Keely says:

Watching this as got the same email last night though it is a generic response received immediately on sending. Might give chat a go today if I have the time …

    • Tracey says:

I thought you could apply to the balance but not the deposit?

    • cabal of rabid baboons says:

I’d send another E-Mail and hope it generates a different response, I was successful earlier in the week of paying my holiday balance by E-Voucher

  • DI says:

Hi, l am going for a few days to Zurich in late November. Can anyone recommend any good accommodation for up £150 a night? That’s already pushing it with the budget btw. Thanks

    • DI says:

      *up to

    • Swiss Jim says:

Depends what loyalty you have and how close you want to be to the centre…

    • Phil W says:

Sheraton Zurich was nice enough when I stayed a couple of years ago. Easy tram ride into the city centre. Currently ~£145 per night for the last weekend in November.

      • Rob says:

I’ve stayed there too. Bit out of the way but, as you say, on the tram network and it is a new hotel.

    • Craig Vassie says:

Crowne Plaza Zurich a little out of the way, but on the tram network.

    • HH says:

Kameha Grand Zurich (Autograph Collection) is my favourite budget stay in Zurich. 10 minute tram from the airport, 20 minute tram from town. Always around £100/night.

  • Yorkieflyer says:

Avios call centre anwered in 15 mins at 0900 this morning and Lloyds voucher used. To confirm they are as a one off open tomorrow Sunday to allow expiring vouchers to be used.

    • Rachel Robinson says:

Lucky you. Took me much longer yesterday. And I’d mistakenly thought they weren’t open weekends.

  • Roger says:

I want to use my 2 vouchers (player 1+2) for a family of four during this christmas for 2 week get away.

what are the suggested destinations for 2 week away in a relatively covid safe location?

    • Roger says:

I am looking for current or potential additional routes which hopefully might open up as the travel around the world seem to be slowly opening up for tourists.

Any news on potential new BA routes?

      • Memesweeper says:

Keep an eye on seat spy’s “where can I go”. Trouble I find is there’s usually very little availability getting back from anywhere. Also Seat Spy can’t automate a search if you can be a bit flexible with dates and/or open jaw.
