We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Managed to spend £207 at the ivy manchester spinningfields very nice 😉

  • Matty says:

Warsaw seems pretty cheap next month. Any Covid restrictions on entering?

    • AK says:

Depends if you are vaxed. If yes, no restrictions. Warsaw in November can be quite awful weather-wise – that is why perhaps.

    • stevenhp1987 says:

Fully Vax for 14+ days are allowed in without quarantine.

Children 12 or younger can enter if their parents travelling with fully vaccinated adults are exempt.

      Must fill in PLF: https://www.gov.pl/web/gov/fill-in-the-passenger-locator-form

Masks required in-doors and public transport etc.

    • Patrycja says:

No restrictions on entry for fully vaccinated or quarantine if you’re not. Very little restrictions in place once you’re there. It will be cold in November but it is also likely to be sunny at the same time.

Really cheesed off now. After 2 weeks of dealing with a well known Cruise travel agent and eventually receiving a refund for breach of contact for a June 2022 booking and successfully arguing for damages as a result of negligent misstatement for my December booking…..BA e-mailed me this afternoon to state my flight from Heathrow in January has been cancelled. They put me on an alternative flight and 2 minutes cancelled that. Am on my second hour of waiting to speak to them. Cut off after first hour. What a headache

    • Harry T says:

If your flight is in January, isn’t it just worth waiting a bit? There’s no real time pressure to make any changes. They may even cancel replacement flights again, looking this far out.

  • ayearinmx says:

I have a BA LHR-BLQ return booked for 5-11th Nov…. just checked for parking and it says I fly out of T5, but return on T3…. does this seem right? Are they moving back to T3 for some flights?
I’ve checked other dates, and everything before Nov 11 arrives at T5, but everything after Nov 11 arrives in T3…..

its pretty annoying if i have change terminals before/after flying to get to my car….

    • mark2 says:

A few years ago that used to happen sometimes with open jaw flights e.g. T5 to Seattle and return from Vancouver to T3.

    • Sam G says:

at the rate of “culling” of short haul this winter I can’t see any flights going to T3 – plan for T5

  • Stephan says:

For th IHG Bonus 3x. I have 4 night stay booked at an ihg Hotel but the PA for some reason has one reservation code for one night and and another reservation number for the remaining 3. Does that qualify as two stays?

    • ChrisC says:

No. Their system will merge it into one when it comes to earning points etc

Even checking out and in again won’t get around that

  • Pete M says:

BA recruiting for Heathrow cabin crew again. £16k basic…

    • Phil W says:

They will be lucky to recruit at that rate in the current market.

    • Mikeact says:

      Basic + whatever else is included/expected ?

      • Pete M says:

They claim “up to £28k”. From what I hear from the inside that isn’t easy to achieve at the moment… Sadly the allure of flying to far flung places and the excitement of jet travel always seems to attract enough people.

    • Amy C says:

Wouldn’t do that job for 5x that.

      • Njb says:

Funnily enough I would- not for the money as the pay is rubbish. But I love an airport and flying. At my rime in life the money would be a bonus.

        • Gruntfuttock says:

Unfortunately you’ve got passengers to deal with as well 🙄, some more affable than others.

          • The Savage Squirrel says:

This. Think of the most annoying or demanding passenger you ever encountered then remember there’s one just as bad on every flight and alcohol at low pressure does not improve them. Even if I accepted the job I’d probably be sacked pretty quick for telling an unreasonable n*bread that they were being an unreasonable n*bhead.

  • Alan says:

I have 30k reward points on my free IHG rewards club card. The card is being closed in December so I need to have them transferred to my IHG hotel account.
I cannot see anything on the website that let’s me do this, is this because my account is being closed or just me being a bit thick.

    • Reney says:

Your IHG points on your credit card is transferred automatically monthly (although see others comment today that there appears to be issues/ might not be happening).

There is no way for you to manually trigger the transfer, hence all the comments in the last few days.

      • Alan says:

My points have never transferred in the 8 months I have had the card. I assumed it worked like Amex and I would need to manually transfer the points when I wanted to use them.

Looks like Ii need to contact CS to chase this up, any advice as to the best way of doing this?

        • Harrier25 says:

Sounds like they don’t have your IHG Rewards Club membership number. You should’ve entered this at application stage, but from what you say, you didn’t.

          • Alan says:

To be honest I cannot remember, possibly I created my IHG account after receiving the card.

Oddly it links from the Creation website to my rewards club login screen.

    • TGLoyalty says:

See comments on page 1 and page 10

Looks like creation are planning to play silly bugger.

      • Yorkie Aid says:

Did you read the OPs comments? Creation clearly don’t have his IHG membership number. His points have NEVER transferred – it’s not a recent issue.

        • Alan says:

The comments are out of time order, I added that bit of info after TGL replied. IH no tomorrow

I will try and get them to add the IHG No tomorrow and hope i don’t get caught up in the current transfer problems.

        • TGLoyalty says:

Unfortunately Yorkie my flux capacitor is currently on the fritz …

          • Yorkie Aid says:

            🙂 Understood!

          • Yorkie Aid says:

BTW TGL, as a fellow Back to the Future fan, have you seen the new musical version at The Adelphi? It’s bloody brilliant!

  • r* says:

Anyone know if the rocketmiles new user bonus requires a check in at the hotel to trigger?
