There is nothing like simplicity when designing a loyalty scheme, and the free breakfast benefit for Titanium Elite or Platnium Elite members of Marriott Bonvoy is nothing like simple.

I put together a guide to what breakfast benefits you will get at each of the Marriott Bonvoy brands if you have Platinum or Titanium status.

The information for the table below is taken from the scheme Terms & Conditions which can be found here.  Hopefully I have interpreted it all correctly.

St Regis Mardavall breakfast buffet meats

Even if you don’t have Platinum status or higher in Marriott Bonvoy, it is worth looking at the table below to marvel at the complexity of what Marriott has created.

The good news is that members are still better off than they were before the Marriott and Starwood programmes merged with breakfast benefits extended to more brands.

Above is a picture of the breakfast buffet from Rhys’s recent review of St Regis Mardavall in Mallorca, which would be free to Platinum Elite members and above.

  • 1ATL says:

Sheraton La Caleta in Tenerife is an oddity amongst Sheraton properties in as much as the club lounge is off limits to all guests including Club rooms and Suites unless you pay for it as a supplement. Does anyone have experience of Platinum or above gaining access based upon status?

    • Harry T says:

I stayed during covid when the lounge was closed – they told me I would have had access if it wasn’t and gave me a discount on food and beverage across the hotel, as compensation. I was Platinum at the time.

    • Zark says:

I am the Sheraton La Caleta Tenerife at present.
The Club lounge is permanentl closed now.
They are offering 20% off F&B until end of 2022.
Perhpas you are thinking of the Ritzz-Carlton 15klm north, which has a Club lounge and only accessable via an 80€/night/person supplement, I believe.

      • 1ATL says:

Thanks, good to know. Definitely this property (Sheraton La Caleta) that I was thinking of. I’ve been to both Sheraton and Abama many times. Just wasn’t sure how it stacked up with a Platinum at La Caleta. Now that I know the lounge is closed permanently, that clears that one up.

  • CiaM says:

Ritz-Carlton Kyoto kindly gave me free breakfast as Platinum member. Do any other RC properties do this?

  • S says:

Does any Courtyard have a lounge? Courtyard Inverness only offers 10 USD credit for breakfast despite no lounge. But it’s 10 USD per guest, and I assume that’s true of all brands

    • StokeFlyer says:

Many courtyard hotels in Asia have club lounges.

    • Ikaz says:

I stayed at the courtyard Xian (in China) that had a lounge, pretty good cat 1 hotel actually, although not close to town

  • NSL says:

Aloft SFO doesn’t offer breakfast if the stay is a reward redemption, only for paying guests.

Not sure if this is an anomaly or whether it’s in the T&Cs for all Alofts.

  • Andrew says:

Maybe they could just make it simple like Hilton do?

    • NSL says:

Not sure if Hilton’s breakfast credit matrix could be classed as simple. There will be much gnashing of teeth on here if it’s rolled out worldwide in 2022.

  • Phil G says:

Emyr@Bonvivant bookings will often get breakfast included.
With the Platinum card do you apply for Gold status from Bonvoy or just flash your card to get the benefits ?

    • Harry T says:

Apply for Gold via the dedicated status page on the Amex website. Gold will not get you brekkie though (or much else).

    • Andrew says:

Whereas the Hilton gold you get with Amex Platinum will get you free breakfast.

  • WZ says:

Ive found it really helpful to reach out to the hotels before booking. I have stayed at several Design hotels that have included free breakfast for titaniums, and if I didn’t know this I wouldn’t have booked with them.

    • David says:

Yup I do the same – through the chat remind them that I want an upgrade and free breakfast – saves prolonged conversations at check in. Tho a few have a Bonvoy breakfast menu – with very little on it !

  • Dave says:

Some Courtyards and AC hotels in the UK have offered me breakfast instead of the 10USD even if breakfast usually costs more than 10USD. Worth asking at check-in.
