    Should be able to start ex-UK with the new voucher but the open jaw element requires a phone call unless you book the 2nd leg separately and then re-claim the avios. Be careful you don’t get stung for taxes though, if you do this.

    Is that routing, MLE-LHR-BKK actually permitted on a voucher? Under IATA fare construction rules, that is two one way flights.

      That’s possible due to new style voucher with which you can originate outside travel, so your leg LHR-BKK is essentialy a return portion, except that you’ll do BKK-MLE by “land” (land under quotation as it’s going to be on another airline or not at all). It’s therefore classed as open-jaw which means it requires a phone call. Whether the agents are trained on this is still unknown.

        OK, I thought they were effectively trying to book this as a one way (which I don’t think BA would allow) and then planning to add a return from BKK to somewhere!

  Random thought that just popped into my head.
  There must be thousands of FTV recipients that have a 241 voucher rolled up inside of it. These are valid (outbound) until 30/09/2023. Once (if) free travel properly reopens, will there even be enough BA reward seat availability to satisfy all these latent FTV/241 holders, as well as all the new reward/241 bookings over the next 2 years, or are we going to be a in a reward seat crunch?

    That is the question, @Bob. If BA allowed the FTVs to be redeemed online people could be using them as we speak and not waiting until the last minute because they can’t (or can’t face trying to) get through on the phone. You would almost think BA want people to waste them …

      Yes, this is why I am not taking any FTVs even if it means I lose one or two. There are also new type of vouchers which are more valuable as they open up more seats and can’t be combined with old ones. So I want to get to stage when I don’t have any old style vouchers.

  apologies if this has been done to death, but i have a friend arriving from the US tomorrow. fully vaccinated but as it’s the 23rd, he needs to get a PCR test done. he ordered one to arrive at my house on saturday so he could do the test on arrival, but the company now say it’ll arrive on monday (he’s leaving to go to the other side of london on sunday night)

  i’ve suggested he cancels that one and gets a pcr upon arrival at heathrow. is that a viable option that people have tried?

    It’s a viable option to do it on arrival at Heathrow (if there are slots). St pancreas might be another option if he is travelling through London on Sunday and I’m sure There are a few other day 2 test providers in London that others can recommend.

    However, his current test provider May not provide a refund.

          Monday is technically “in time” but OP’s friend won’t be there.

          Ofcourse OP could shove it up his nose and send it off and no one would ever know but I think the friend actually intends on taking a test and complying with the law.

  For anyone who buys MeliáRewards points/cards on Amazon. I’ve noticed they’ve stopped being sold on Amazon Germany and France recently and in Spain they’re only available for the standard price of 330EUR for 55,000 (more expensive than buying them with Meliá directly). Do we think they’re just getting ready in advance for Black Friday?

  Has anyone received the bonus Tesco Clubcard points from the Hotels.com promo yet? Terms stated up to 14 weeks. It has now been 14 weeks and 4 days since Robs article and none of my points have arrived yet…

    Apparently as an existing customer you have to email them to ask for a referral code… I’ve just done that and will post here when I get it. I’d never heard of them before but switched recently as they were way cheaper than the price cap for us, oddly – and it’s been a smooth process so far.

  Quick Q, if I have a cash booking LHR-JFK (booked premium and used Avios to upgrade to club) and JFK-LHR (booked in club), how easy is it for the agents to change it to LHR-BOS//JFK-LHR.

    Unless there’s a cancellation then you’d need Avios availability on LHR-JFK and also may have to pay a fare difference to BOS

      There is availability and the fares are the same. Was just wondering if they cancel the entire booking and rebook or just change the single flight I want changed (in this case the outbound).

      i.e is it easy or a palaver

          Would it make sense to take an FTV then rebook in same conversation. That would get you a new ticket with a later issue date. Which might make it more flexible if you want to change later or if BA cancels and you are trying to rebook?
