Can anyone help me with locating where my Virgin Credit Card Reward Voucher might be listed either in the Virgin Money Credit Card app, or in the Virgin Atlantic website please?

My points earning statement shows that a voucher was credited to my account in November last year, but I cannot find any more details than that anywhere.

    Thanks for any help!

    • ChrisC says:

Listed as a line in the transactions on your account on the VS website.

Should have appeared there last November.

    • Andy says:

It will show on your VS Flying Club points earning statement

      • Jono says:

Hi Andy, Chris, thank both for replying, I can see the line in the points earned transactions statement in November, but then where do I find the voucher details to be able to input this during a points booking flight search? Or to find out the voucher expiry details etc? Thanks

    • davef says:

You can send them a message on twitter. I did and got an excellent and comprehensive reply on expiry date, what i could use them for etc. Turns out I like a lot of people ended up with 2 vouchers not just the one.

  • Rhys says:

I will be in Aberdeen next week. Any decent breakfast/dinner reccs that Rob will let me expense? 🙂

    • ChrisC says:

Has he not subbed you a few virgin points so you can get yourself a Greggs sausage roll?

      • Rob says:

Rhys has loads of Virgin Points – press trips always post as cash flights 🙂

      • TGLoyalty says:

Hasn’t Rob sent them all to Hilton for his next WA The Palm stay?

    • Dave says:

Cafe Andaluz (off Union St) is nice for Tapas.

    • JimB says:

Foodstory [vegan] does good breakfasts. Prince of Wales pub for trad mince/tatties/peas lunch or early dinner. Silver Darlings for expense account dinner. And make sure you try a rowie.

    • Chrism20 says:

The Tippling House on Belmont Street is very good for the price and they do excellent cocktails

    • kitten says:

2-3 days ago about 3 places to eat in Aberdeen were mentioned when someone asked. Try a search Rhys 🙂

  • Aston100 says:

Finally got a call from NHS test & trace.
Scottish chap. The accent was far worse than most overseas call centres I’ve spoken to.
    Could barely understand anything.
just over 15 minutes of time wasting, 5 minutes of which were variations of “Och jobby mah computer isnae workin’
5 minutes of asking for information that was already on my PLF.
5 minutes of me asking him why I’m being contacted given they have all the info already pertaining to my vaccinations and suchlike, hence this is a waste of everybodys time
His response was something like “Noo weel see youve bin oan an aeroiplane wi’ 5 or 6 hundred ither fowk some o’ wham micht hae covid ‘n’ mony o’ thaim likelie havent filled in a form ye see sae we need tae ca’ evrybody see ”

    Such a waste of time.

    • Paul Pogba says:

      ya daft racist 😉

    • N says:

you’re being a bit of an arse here, but you knew that already.

    • JDB says:

The chap is just doing his job, whatever you think of his masters. If you struggle to understand the wonderful variety of accents we have in these isles, I think the joke is on you.

      • John says:

Well I love Scottish accents but I can’t understand them until I’ve been in Glasgow for a few days.

Going next week so I just called my mate there (usually whatsapp) and didn’t have a clue what he was saying. Will be fine after a few hours in the pub

      • Aston100 says:

But it was like talking to Rabb C Nesbitt!

    • Simon says:

      hahaha.

    • Alex says:

      What did I just read?

    • Amy C says:

Christ on a bike, the responses to your humorous post prove one thing. The world has totally lost it’s sense of humour and replaced it with joyless, woke, virtual signalling, humour bypass individuals just waiting to be offended or offended on behalf of others. It’s utterly draining and tedious. [Shakes head at sorry state of play].

    • The Penguin says:

Imitating accents is definitely not the done thing these day. Considered racist by many.

      • Amy C says:

Surely only if malice is implied. There is a big difference between gentle, humour led mockery and something more malevolent. I would think it more iffy if the accent was from somewhere in Asia or Africa. Would any of the people saying it’s racist be saying so if he took a rise out of an American/Aussie accent? Or even a French one? I’ve just watched Spitting Image, mockery taken out of people’s looks, accent and personality. No one starts bleating, presumably because the ‘victim’ is in the public eye?

        • Rachel Robinson says:

Is there though? Are racist jokes ok, if they’re just jokes?

I mean, you’re free to find it funny. I’m free to find it unfunny, tedious and unpleasant.

          • Oh! Matron! says:

Seconded. Just because you don’t find it racist, it doesn’t make it okay if it’s racist

          • Amy C says:

So answer the question, is it racist if it were an American or Aussie? Would I be racist if I put on a Yorkshire accent? Where do you folks draw the line?

          • Paul Pogba says:

Offence is taken, not given. What happened to stoicism?

        • tonyb says:

          Agreed Amy

I have a Scot that works for me and he takes great pleasure in mocking my Essex accent, I have always enjoyed the banter but I will sack him now for racism! lol

          • Amy C says:

I think you should Tonyb. After all he’s a vile bigot and should be ‘re-educated’ at once and have his sense of humour extracted and followed up with a jolly good thrashing of the birch. Absolutely pathetic world we live in now.

          • Aston100 says:

Did he ask you for “a bih uh buh-uh” to spread on his toast?

      • Distichon says:

But surely it’s allowed if you mock your own accent, because then it’s not “appropriation”?

      • Aston100 says:

“Imitating accents is definitely not the done thing these day. Considered racist by many.”
        What rubbish is this?
A Londoner mocking a Yorkshire accent would be considered ‘racist’ by your odd logic.

    • Magic Mike says:

Reminds me of the SNL Scottish air traffic controller skit. Look it up on YouTube…

    • Phil W says:

So what you’ve posted isn’t racist. It lacks tolerance for others different to yourself, and you are a complete arse for treating the guy that way. But it wasn’t racist.

      • David says:

        +1

      • Aston100 says:

“and you are a complete arse for treating the guy that way”
Err… how did you come to the conclusion I treated the caller in any particular way?
Did you run some imaginary scenarios in your head or something?

    • @mkcol says:

Seems like your post was a bigger (racist) waste of time than the phone call you received.

  • Rachel Robinson says:

Mocking people’s accents is kind of unpleasant, and indicative of prejudice

    • Michael AC says:

Agreed. Reeks of classism and a superiority complex.

      • Andy says:

Why would anyone outside London have a superiority complex vs. the Scots?

        • Lady London says:

          Why would anyone?
          I agree with Amy C.
          Too much virtue signalling.

        • Amy C says:

I’ve still trying to locate the classism. Baffling. So many chips on ‘right on’ shoulders here.

          • BrotherBear says:

Plenty of chips on shoulders on here and in the real world.

Woke gone mad. Hope the nonsense stops soon.

        • Aston100 says:

“Why would anyone outside London have a superiority complex vs. the Scots?”
Wow, I think Andy managed to simultaneously elevate Londoners; put down Scots; put down the rest of the country beyond the level he has attributed to Scots!
          All from one sentence!

      • Mark says:

        “classism and a superiority complex”

Pretty much sums up the tone of the site and many of the comments.

      • ankomonkey says:

Loving the use of “reeks…” 🙂

    • Andrew says:

Do you think Scots don’t judge each other on their accents?

Aston100’s comment, if transcribed accurately, had a clear twang of Edinburgh’s Saughton or Sighthill to it.

As my dear old mum told me when I was younger. “I don’t care who you fall in love with, I just want you to be happy… Black, brown, white… But dear God, please not a Glaswegian, I couldn’t cope with the accent”.

  • Karl says:

    Anyone been to Malta recently?
Got an 8 day holiday coming up and have been looking at accommodation. Was thinking of splitting across 2 hotels as they look pretty close together in St Julian’s. One of these will likely be Intercontinental as have an Amb free night to use. Other options are Marriott/Hilton/Westin. Price-wise they are all similar.
Have Hilton Diamond and Marriott Platinum if that makes any difference?
    Any suggestions? Thanks

    • MiddleEngland says:

I stayed at the Hilton Malta for a week in May. It is excellent. I too am diamond and while booking a city view room was easily upgraded to a pool / sea view King with apologies for not getting a suite because they had already been allocated. The service and food in the Exec Lounge is up with the best; very good afternoon tea too! There are lots of different pool areas to suit your mood or family.

    • Shaw West says:

Stayed at the Westin. Lovely location, good rooms. Got upgraded to see facing suite with balcony. Couldn’t complain 🙂

    • E says:

I have split a stay across the Intercontinental and the Hilton in the past. The Hilton was far nicer than the Intercontinental. They are close enough to walk between if you don’t have too much luggage.

    • Alan S says:

If you go with the Intercontinental then make sure you book (or contact the hotel to upgrade to) a suite or above.

It’s basically a hotel (which is barely good enough to be an Intercontinental) with a new 2/3 floor hotel built on top (which is all suites and is excellent).

The top floors get access to the excellent club lounge and rooftop pool etc.

      • Aston100 says:

Do you know who else gets access to the pool etc? people staying next door at the HIX.

        • Karl says:

Apparently about 90% of IC guests don’t even get access to that swish pool on the roof. Doesn’t the HIX have it’s own pool?

Talking of the HIX, it’s EUR38 a night for some days next month. Got to be one of the biggest bargains going. Seriously considering signing up the other half and doing two mattress runs while we’re in Malta in order to get the promo voucher, providing I can find a night at the O2 IC to for 40k points in order to make use of the voucher.

        • Alan S says:

Not to the rooftop pool. If there is space I think anyone can get in with a minimum spend at the bar/on food.

I think you’re mixing up the rooftop pool and the normal pool.

    • Karl says:

Thanks or the replies. Looks like there are plenty of decent options.

The plan was to start with the IC free night, then book a further 2/3 nights in an IC club room. Hopefully with a bit of charm at reception/it being low-season/having Amb membership may get the free night merged into the rest of the stay. Looks like the rooftop pool is for suites only but not massively bothered about that as it may not be pool weather at the start of November.

      • Alan S says:

Yeah it was late October when we went and the rooftop pool was only really worth heading to on 1 of our days there.

The club lounge was worth every penny though. Great balcony and free flowing champagne.

  • MW says:

    BA Hols double TPs question:

I have a trip I need to book for Jan which would get me 160 TPs but I noticed adding a car actually reduces the price (albeit marginally) while doubling my TPs.

Any implications if I “forget” to collect the car – would I still get the TPs (and I guess BA Hols Avios)?

  • Nick says:

2 free priority passes from an Amex Gold. I cancelled the amex gold about 6 months ago. Are the 2 passes still valid?

  • N says:

Is there a way to force Hertz to re-charge a booking to a different card? Wouldn’t mind using the £15 off £100 I’ve got at the mo on one of my cards on an existing booking.

    • John says:

If you’ve already returned the car then it’s too difficult. Maybe if you go in person and the branch actually has a card reader rather than doing everything online

If it’s a prepaid reservation then these are all refundable until 7(?) days before pick up, just hope the rate is the same or lower
