News in brief:
I’m in ‘The Club’
British Airways Executive Club has kindly included me in an article on ‘super travellers’ in the latest online edition of ‘The Club’ magazine, which happens to be a celebratory 100th edition.
They say:
“They’ve been here the longest and flown the most. They’re the travellers you want at your dinner party (and next to you on the plane).”
That might be pushing it a bit (!), and regular readers will know that Rhys does most of the flying for the site these days, but it was good to be asked. You can read my contribution here.
In typical BA fashion, you’ll get a ‘Not Secure’ warning in your browser because it hasn’t paid up for an SSL certificate ….

Save £40 on a Finnair (and BA?) flight of £180+
American Express and Finnair have launched a new cashback deal.
If targetted (check the ‘Offers’ tab for each of your American Express cards) you will receive £40 cashback when you spend £180+ at finnair.com by 15th November.
The cashback is only valid on flights from the UK. This is obviously useful if planning a weekend break in Helsinki, especially as British Airways no longer flies there.
You may be able to play smarter though.
Because Finnair is part of the American Airlines / Iberia / British Airways transatlantic joint venture, you can buy British Airways transatlantic flights via the Finnair website. The pricing should match what you get on ba.com.
You will earn Avios and tier points regardless as long as you add your British Airways Executive Club number whilst booking.
Note that if you have BA status you will earn fewer Avios – which offsets your £40 saving – than booking the same flight on ba.com. This is because BA flights booked on finnair.com will usually come with an AY flight number. This means that they are treated as Finnair services and do not trigger an Avios status bonus.
