Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Good morning. Phoned you first to tell them I want to fly a year later since they cancelled my Singapore flights ( booked T-355 )this month and they harped on about ‘ticket validity’. Basically said I had to travel before 25/2/22 since that was last time ticket was amended 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway I told her no it should be at a time of my choosing EU261 etc… but to no avail. I told her to remove the segments from my booking as advised by wise HFP readers for now but when I look at my account it says it’s in process of being cancelled and refunded. Is this looking right?

How fast are BA legal dept to reply to a letter of action?

    Thank you in advance.

    • meta says:

I don’t recall anyone advising to remove the segments. If you asked for it to be removed, I would take that as an ask for a refund.

      • Anna T says:

I think Sam G had experience of this. Maybe that’s how it looks when it’s suspended? Thanks anyway

        • Sam G says:

I can’t remember how it looked once they did it. Sounds like you are doing the right things though ! Good luck!

      • Anna T says:

Usually if I ask for refund the 2-4-1 voucher goes straight back into my account and Avios too. So I’m hopeful 🙏

    • Anna says:

I had issues with You First refusing to recalculate the taxes on a return leg a few months ago, they clearly aren’t as accommodating as they used to be!

    • Always_in_the_air says:

I had somthing similar a week ago. Its a fairly complicated story, but i’ll try and explain what was explained to me….

I had redemption tickets for 4 in F (LHR-JNB) that i booked on the 3rd March, the return leg was ammended on the 8th March. Then a few weeks ago they canceled the inbound leg. I called up and asked to be re-booked for flights in April. They said this was not possible as it had to be within 12 months of the rebooking date (which they considered to be 8th March), I pointed out that the policy had changed and that it was now 12 months after the initial outbound flight not date of booking…..she reverted to a manager…(some time passed)…The booking agent then kindly explained that it was 12 months from the outbound date, but only on what she refered to as a “prime” booking, if the ticket is changed it is no longer “prime”, and at this point it is 12 month from the date of the change!

I asked her for a copy of this policy, but she wasnt able to provide one and i couldnt find any such reference on the BA website, maybe someone else can confirm?

On the plus side she did figure things out so i could rebook for the dates i wanted in april even though i couldnt see redemtion availability for F in April.

Any paper FT subscribers here? In the last 6mo or so, at least once a month, I don’t receive the paper delivery. I live within m25 and it is getting really frustrating. Anyone else experienced this?

    • KP says:

No but you can chat with FT on the website. They’re quite good

Also you have access to the e-paper… if you realllyyy want to read it

    • MD says:

      @Can
Sorry to hear that. I subscribe to the paper FT weekend. Had a bit of a rocky start, no paper for the first 2 weeks. The people manning subscriptions@ft.com were very prompt to reply and most helpful, got everything sorted with those delivering – guess they couldn’t find my house (in central zone one lol). Extended my sub for the missed weeks. Give them a shout. Intermittent failures are a bit odd though. Are you sure it isn’t someone nicking it from outside your house?

      • Can says:

Yes I am sure it’s not being stolen from my porch. I have Ring camera.
FT changed delivery partners in March and it’s been happening since March every 3-4 weeks.
Anything that upsets my morning routine is inexcusable for me :))
And in todays time and age, it’s a lot of money I pay to FT for this.

And yes. The customer facing team is good. They just credit it. But I still want my paper and they sometimes send the missing issue by post.

    • Rob says:

I had huge problems with FT Weekend until they changed their delivery company for the central area. After a couple of hiccups all is now well. You need to give them VERY clear written instructions which get printed on the address label. Our issue is that we are ’13A’ and people think it is a flat inside No 13 – when actually it’s an extra property that got slotted between 13 and 15.

      • Can says:

Yeah I know. My address is clear and the instructions are even clearer. No such complications.

    • Alex says:

I love just outside the m25 and have had 3 deliveries on time, 1 arrived late and the rest never arrived for weekend delivery in about 10 weeks. CS have been great but delivery company awful.

Spend 180 get 40 off with Finnair on my plat this morning

  • Jay says:

My 2-4-1 BA Companion voucher is due to expire at end of 1st Feb 2022. Anyone know if BA might be extending the expiry date again on existing vouchers or I likely will have to use before then?

    • Andrew H says:

This has been asked a few times… and the answer is most probably NO.

Book a one way to Manchester and cancel and you have 4500 Avios, £35 and your 2-4-1 available to use in a FTV until the end of Sept 2023

  • Mark says:

Anyone knows if HSBC allows withdrawal from Binance?

    • Char Char says:

I think it’s more of a case that Binance won’t do any U.K. card withdrawals but Coinbase do so send to there firstly

  • AT says:

Urgh got a cancellation email from revolut – no reason provided! Has anyone got one recently and managed to push back on it?

    • Harrier25 says:

Have you been putting genuine spend through the account or just been abusing it with MS transactions?

    • Anna says:

The end of the world is clearly nigh 🙏

      • Harrier25 says:

Probably not. The problem will be how he’s been using his account, me thinks!

        • AT says:

I pay in via Hilton and pay out various bills and payments to people, nursery, no cash advances or anything weird – really normal I think

          • Harrier25 says:

Yes, that doesn’t sound excessive. Have you tried to speak with them to find out why they’re closing your account?

  • Stephan says:

Quick question on sub, if I trigger it based on a big purchase just prior to the end of the period to achieve the sub but that purchase is refunded at a later date, however, in meantime I’ve made other purchases such that my spend even after that refund is above the threshold. do I still retain the sub or is it based on purchases made during the sub period?

  • Travel Strong says:

Any active Donald Russell £10 codes out there? NEWCUST10 seems to finally be dead unfortunately. (If not it’ll just have to be a 10% off self-referral)

    • Andrew says:

10% every time with card linked perks if you have access to PAW, 10% every time if you have access to Airtime, and I have 10% on Barclaycard, MBNA, Virgin Money and Halifax with Donald Russell too.

      • Travel Strong says:

Thanks, I also use these, but still have an Amex £10 offer for this particular purchase, so aiming for that AND a merchant discount …

thats the dream I dreamed in time gone by… but the tigers came at night, and turned my steak10 facebook10 and newcust10 codes to shame.

        • WaynedP says:

I’ve used Summer10 before today but haven’t recently.

I’d cheekily try Autumn10 if summer10 is dead, but that would be purely fishing on own initiative.

Summer10 was a genuine code shared here on HfP.
