  With all the recent issues with Bendy, is it still fine to use it to pay Amex bill?. I have metal and HH card linked.

    Is it fine as far as Bendy are concerned, yes. Is it fine as far as HH are concerned… Who knows, given Creation’s reaction you might be risking your relationship with HH you might not. Personally I think Bendy is a dead duck.

  Hi all,

  Thinking about going to NY in December.

  Debating between BA J & Virgin UC..can anyone comment on the pros/cons or which they would suggest based on lounges/overall experience?

    Ok here goes …….
    BA lounge – too busy a bit past it’s best – did it ever have a best ?
    Virgin Lounge one of the best in the world
    BA seats and virgin seats on A350 on a par
    Otherwise Virgin
    virgin service – you meet a new friend in a trendy bar after a few too many cocktails
    BA – frumpy school ma’am gets over familiar
    Avios more useful than virgin miles
    My preference ……….. Virgin

    Most people agree that the lounge experience is better on Virgin.
    Given the number of flights and status members BA has it’s lounges can get very busy and are more formal.

    VS onboard service is generally more tailored and down to earth but will really depend on the crew on the day. Some think BA is stuffy. Virgin have onboard social spaces if that is your bag. Drink at the bar on the way can be nice, you will likely be asleep on the way back so won’t make a difference.

    You will get a lie flat bed on both, just watch a YouTube video to give you a feel. Club Suite if your plane has it is far more private but nothing is certain on what equipment you will get right now. On VS you won’t risk clamoring over somebody to get to the aisle.

    Food is much of a muchness.

    If this a one off and you aren’t looking for miles/status then just pick it on price and timings. Perhaps keep an eye on flyertalk to see what immigration times are like at the respective terminals, they could be hours long before Covid – adding in a check for vaccination records could really compound the problem but we won’t know until they reopen fully.

    Would you be travelling alone or with someone, Josh? Depending on aircraft, BA seat (old CW, not Suite) arguably better for companions (yin-yang facing each other), VS seat arguably better for solo travellers or those who specifically do NOT want to talk to their companion during the flight 😉

    If you think immigration queues will be 5 hours due to the need to check covid paperwork, Aer Lingus via Dublin is the answer – clear immigration in Ireland.

  My Virgin Atlantic credit card has just expired and I have tried adding the new one to curve. I get a message saying this type of card can’t be added. Unless Virgin has stopped working with curve, could this have something do with the old card with the identical number already being listed on curve? If so how do I delete it. Alternatively do I have to activate the card by making a real chip and pin transaction before adding it to curve.

    Yes, use chip and pin first and then you should be able to add new card to Curve.

      By the way, you will need to remove old card first by clicking on red cog under card. Remove card is the last option in the menu.

        That might be a problem as the old card is assigned to take the fee from. So I can’t remove it before adding a new card and I can’t add the new card before removing the old one!

          Stick another card on. Delete the existing card. Add the new one. Delete the other one.

  BA is such a s*******. Cancelled flights to Phuket without offering any automatic alternative, then forcing me to call them within 14 days, otherwise, they will issue an automatic refund. I tried over 10 times now getting through and each time won’t even be let into the queue!

    Call another country’s call centre, it’s the only way (I went through UK, AU, US last week before HK finally answered and sorted my issue in about 5 minutes).

    Legally (EU/ UK 261) they simply can’t just issue you a refund then wash their hands. So don’t worry about that aspect. If they DO give you an unwanted refund, you should refuse it (ie with an email) & you would still have the absolute right to make them re-route you in a reasonable way to your convenience; and – even if it goes to MCOL etc – you would always win the case, you would not end up out of pocket.

  Deposits from third parties, such as salary, pension or benefits payments, will no longer be allowed.
