We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

    Iberia, I had 20k odd in there and I want to transfer out to BA. Turns out I’ve just moved 20k from BA to Iberia. How can I get them back out?? Arrrgh

    Flying out of T5 today in Club World. Which is the best lounge at T5 at the moment? I have Priority Pass and Lounge Key.

      When I was silver my favourite lounge was BA Galleries North, but most people seem to prefer Galleries South.

      I preferred north for a few reasons:
      – it’s on the same level as security
      – it has a terrace
      – it has its own showers (South shares showers with Flounge and Concorde Room)

      Galleries South is bigger but you first have to go down a level, walk along and then up two levels to get to it, there’s also no terrace.

      As you say you’re travelling Club World you’re likely to be departing from the B or C gates. The Galleries lounge in 5B is the best business class lounge when it’s open as it’s less busy, however I think it’s still closed.

      Priority pass and loungekey will give you access to Aspire, but it’s rubbish. If you have Amex Platinum you also have access to the Plaza Premium lounge which is worth a look if Galleries North is too busy.

    Yes, applied last week and have had it added yesterday. I called up to add it as I was impatient though!

      +1. Applied and approved on Tuesday, added offer via chat on Wednesday, will be used this weekend.

        Wow. Presumably the card hadn’t arrived, so how did you manage to add it to your account and chat with them about it?

    Data point – Tesco to Ernie going through absolutely fine again for me now. Had been some (including me) having trouble.

    I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but the Nectar ‘Double Up’ scheme this Chistmas is not happening.
    Which is as hame as their TTD Chenin Blanc is excellent.

      Is this 100% confirmed? Where did you find this out? I was holding off using the points until the double up offer.

        Originally just one site had a rumour but all the press were reporting a few days ago with sainsburys quotes.

        Quite annoying as we had plenty to burn. Might just chuck them into BA. If they stop bonus points too I’ll be shopping elsewhere.

            What do I do with my 20k nectar points. It’s a bit boring to send to Avios or get a few weeks free shopping. It’s nice for redemptions to be meaningful, like the double up for booze / gifts etc

    New Creation fiasco. Got a letter today telling me I needed to make a transaction within 60 days or they will close my account. Couldn’t make a transaction, logged in to my account “limited functionality, phone this number.”

    Anyway I eventually got through on the phone. “Sorry, the letter is a bit confusingly worded. you basically have to make a transaction within 24 hours”!?!

    So they have sent me a new pin number, then I have to phone up to get them to move the block on the account and then do a transaction within 24 hours. Otherwise the block comes back on.

    Bit of a waste of my time tbh!

        January I think so a few months ago although it’s not the first credit card iv’e had that i’ve let sit idle for a while during me spending with a diff one!

    Just had the email (and updated in the app) cancellation of LGW-AMS for next June.

    Given new time and flight number ex LHR

    Checking the ex LHRs that day it looks like they haven’t moved ex LGW flights across en masse

    If my wife hires a car but doesn’t select or pay to add an additional driver, would Amex Plat insurance cover me to drive it (My card, she is a supp).
