We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Does the hotel booking by phone with BA holidays gives 15 avios/£1(18 avios/£1 if using a BA Amex Premium)?
Can anyone confirm that they are actually post correctly?

  • DR says:

    After reading – Annabel 06:24
I have LGW/ACE/LGW in CE booked (2-4-1) which will eventually be canx,
do I understand this correctly that I can request rerouting (same dates)
LHR/MAD/ACE return – MAD/ACE/MAD sectors are only with Iberia and
    show no business available. Thanks

  • Shaw West says:

    NowTV movies for 1GBP 😀

  • Liz says:

Apologies if this has been asked before – I haven’t been following all the comments closely for several weeks. For the £5000 spend offer for 10000 Avios – does spend from shops using IZettle and SumUp count towards spend – I know Paypal doesn’t count but not sure if these 2 are classed as ‘payment facilitators’ and so don’t count towards spend. Thanks

    • Blenz101 says:

Don’t think it has been asked but I would bet that it does. It will come through as a ‘retail’ transaction.

They are sniffy about PP as you can of course pay friends and family etc.

    • Peter K says:

I got the 10000 Avios for £5k spend and I did a decent amount of the spend on Paypal and some via billhop.

    • Travel Strong says:

Paypal counts. izettle/paypal/etc only present issue with retailer specific offers – not overall spend offer.

    • Axel says:

The payment aggregators are fine to count towards spend.

Amex confirmed with me today that shop small is going ahead this December. SumUp is signed up but they weren’t so sure about Square or IZettle

Anyone know if Curve Rewards are the same as Curve cash.
I activated a 10% offer for Pizza Express and I’ve received only 1.5% in Curve cash, but this happened within hours.
Are they the same thing or different?

    • C says:

I had understood Curve Rewards were to be paid as Curve Cash. However, neither of the two offers I triggered have paid anything….

    • John says:

They should be, there are 3 types, one where it credits immediately (typically 1.5%) and the offers which credit after a few weeks, which are divided into ones where you can just spend on the card and ones where you have to go through curve’s affiliate link.

They should all credit to curve cash though, you might get 11.5% back eventually? The 1.5% ones are the offer for specific retailers you get with metal or the early adopter rewards, but I didn’t think pizza express was on there

    • Andrew H says:

I asked them this. It takes time to appear. There’s a red star in the corner of the Rewards page. Click that and it’ll show what is pending.

  • Blenz101 says:

I think Anna had a point earlier when she suggested ‘audit’.

    But I’m a complete cynic.

  • Mikeact says:

Correct….text print pops up, if you can’t be bothered to read the t’s and c’s then little sympathy, particularly wasting the voucher., which has been mentioned on here since time immemorial.

  • C says:

Can a FTV be claimed with BA if the outbound flight has already been flown? If so what would happen if a 241 voucher was used on the booking? I’m guessing the FTV would just be for the return portion of avios for 1 person and the cash?
    Thanks

    • JDB says:

I don’t think you get any Avios back if you cancel a rewards booking after the outbound flight. Not sure about the cash element.
