We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Hello any idea if Turkish is still offering discount for nhs workers (I’m a nurse in ITU ). Can’t find an email for TK in the U.K. to ask them

Over recent months I have asked numerous questions on HFP about my BA 241 trip to Maldives for honeymoon so just thought I would let you know it all turned out great.
Firstly, we finally got married (5th attempt) yesterday and secondly because BA cancelled our flight next sunday (26th) and I did nothing about it I have been able to get them to switch us to business both ways with Qatar via Doha going a day earlier and coming back a day earlier so really looking forward to that. Finally, the original booking was WTP but thanks to seatspy I managed to pounce at different times relatively recently on some CW seats that were released otherwise we would have faced QR economy which at 6ft6 tall means I am not keen on that one little bit! Oh, and we have 6 nts (2 water/4 beach) at the Conrad Rangali on Hilton points. So, 18 months in the making but worth it in the end.
All the best to everyone else with I expect more adventures in the coming months.

MONESE GIFT CARDS APPEAR TO BE BACK – check your accounts!

    • BJ says:

      20% off £50 or £100.

    • mark2 says:

Not on my card, but I have only been doing £200 per month on basic account

      • BJ says:

Sorry to hear that Mark, seems not fair given you’ve been one of it’s greatest advocates. Guess who finally decided to close their account last week? I got this from another site with heat, couldn’t test it but figured most likely reliable so I posted it.

      • Youllnever says:

Did you have £120 in balance when you tried those codes? You need to have enough money in order to redeem both codes.

    • Aston100 says:

      Thanks BJ.
Bought both the £100 and the £50 promotions.
Will probably try and buy Sainsburys gift cards and use them in turn for Amazon gift cards.

One last question and then I am done.
I am BA Silver but ba.com won’t let me manage the now QR booking to Maldives because all 4 flights are QR (I think there was some reason why the lady had to go for the QR flight rather than the BA codeshare). When I log in to QR there is no sign of any seat selection option (even paid for). Given it was booked with BA and has only become QR because of their calculation should I harass BA on the seat selection front or approach QR directly? Any thoughts? Thanks

    • Stephen says:

      *cancellation not calculation!!
Also p.s. the BA lady read out a long list of T&Cs related to QR including that I had to use a PCR test provider approved by QR but I can’t find such a list anywhere. Does it just mean it has to be a provider that is on the UK Govt’s “preferred list” or are QR really vetting individual test providers globally? Thanks

    • ChrisC says:

You need to select seats and check in etc on QR as the operating carrier.

If your BA booking reference won’t work on QR then you need to find that.

I’m not sure if the Finnair manage bookings ‘trick’ will produce that for you though.

Sometimes clicking on the BA booking on the BA website will take you through to QR and you can get the QR reference that way.
