We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

    Evening. So just back from a wonderful week in Gran Canaria. Thanks to all that gave advice. It’s was fabulous. Radisson Blu Mogan highly recommend for families especially as it was so quiet. Less than 30% full and most days we had the pool to ourselves. On return I used Blindspot Global for day 2 tests as they have a ‘clinic’ between my house and work. Got there this morn and not a sole in sight doors locked and deffo no one home. I’m not sure if it’s the same company as the famous ‘Chester’ route but this was genuinely booked in good faith and I turned up on time to do the required tests. 119 couldn’t have cared less. I think the sooner the gov get rid of the farce of a system the better.

    Am potentially in Cancun in November and flying from there to Singapore. Is it possible to transit CUN -> LGW then LHR -> SIN on either a single PNR or separate tickets?

    I must have missed the memo; what does PAW stand for? Googling it gets me to Paw Patrol

    The current Scottish green guidance states;

    You will need to buy a COVID-19 test and take this test in the 3 days before you travel

    If flying back Monday, then does mean you can take the fit to fly on Friday? I thought it was 3 days including the day of travel but that’s not really how the official statement is worded

    Are there offers on the Hilton Visa card? Not used mine for months

    When is bozo supposed to be announcing that green/amber/day2 tests are going to be scrapped, tomorrow or thursday? I thought I’d read it was meant to be today but guess not.

    Just got an email to find out I’ve won 5,000 avios from the Nectar transfer competition back in July. Thanks HFP!

    Has anyone attempted to use Hotels.com in the past few months? I keep getting a litter of problems when searching hotels ranging from refusing to load more hotels, page crashing and the multi lingual error page. Seems to happen both chrome and firefox. It’s almost as if they are trying to avoid taking bookings! Also the map option really got worse. You can no longer reposition and “Search this area”.

      Can’t say I’ve seen this level of poor service from them. Try clearing your cache and cookies – I had a weird issue with a hotel I know had availability not appearing and a quick clear of the cache fixed that. Mind, it’s never been a perfect website in the first place – don’t expect perfect results!
