We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

How long do you wait before adding to the other account?

  • Booker1989 says:

So various companies are charging £40 plus pounds for covid test to go from or ruturn to the UK. Are the NHS missing a trick here of raising some much needed income by setting up as a service provider

  • Keely says:

Husband applied for the black BA card, was accepted first week in August but had today been charged membership fee of £250 . Shouldn’t the fee relate to date of approval (so £195) not when it was charged ? Thanks

  • Benilyn says:

For those that care, managed to sign up to Netflix (via Turkish VPN) again by using a Turkish IP via VPN, creating a new account, then using a Turkish gift card to sign up. Then check al working. Turn off VPN and added my credit card for payments, and all wen through.

  • Dave says:

Got the New BA Business card last week, hit the spend and the bonus has already posted to my account. How long till it hits my BA account? Am thinking I might cancel it once it does as not totally sure it’s for me..

    • Benilyn says:

Ask chat when your sweep is, mine swept after 15 days or so

    • Rob says:

Presumably end of your statement month like a normal BA Amex.

      • Rui N. says:

On my BAPP they always send the avios to BA mid-statement, not at the end.

        • AJA says:

Mine too. My statement is mid month and the Avios transfer to BAEC around a week before. So depending when I spend the Avios can be in my BAEC in as little as 4 days or can take up to 30 days.

Don’t use the app to add. Login using desktop and then add the card.
I recently added 4 cards to existing logins with no issues.

Has anyone else had a problem trying to book and pay for a holiday in the BA sale? I spent hours yesterday trying to book a 7 day trip in Business to Tenerife. Each time I tried to pay, there was an error message. Sometimes it was “use a different card” so I tried again with 3 different cards, told to contact my bank which I did and was assured that the problem was with BA. Mostly though as soon as I hit make a payment the security code I entered disappeared. I tried to make contact with BA by telephone but with no joy. I forwarded a complaint at midnight and had an acknowledgement this morning. I tried again to make the booking this morning but still the same problem. Eventually I got through on the telephone to BA and the lady was very helpful and was able to book my trip for me and take a deposit payment. She told me that other customers were experiencing the same problem. I was annoyed because I have how lost the sale reduction and the price has gone up slightly. Since that time, I have tried to make a part payment on another booking really to test the system and the same thing is still happening. Thought I should ring BA to try to get someone to deal with this issue but it is an impossible task as continuously cut off. Anyone got an idea as how I should proceed?

I had a nightmare trying to book a flight 4-5 days ago. Various error messages at various stages. I tried late night and everything was fine.

      • JimP says:

Thanks Phil, I am glad I am not alone. I have sent another update to my original complaint but have had no response. I am glad I am not trying to book a sought after 2 for 1 voucher destination because I would not have a chance. I have even emptied the caches on my computer and deleted all cookies but it has made no difference. tried on the telephone app too but no luck.

I saw on flyer talk last night some people were having issues if they were using their phones / tablets to book.

Indeed I was usign my ipad to do some searches and they kept hanging

Whereas on my laptop – which I always make the actual bookings – I had no issues at all.

  • Josu says:

Sorry if this has been answered multiple times but what are the requirements for my trip to Spain in 2 weeks?

It says Spain don’t require testing to enter if 2x vaxxed, so do BA still require it?

Can I just order the Chromatics fit to fly test and a second to take with me on the trip before my return?

Is there any other test or thing that I’m missing?

    Thanks

    • r* says:

You dont need any test to go to spain if vaccinated.

You need a negative test (lfa or pcr) to come back to the uk and a booking ref for a day 0-2 pcr test.

So all you need is 1x lfa and 1x pcr ref num to add to the uk plf.

      • Andrew says:

And to fill out a Spain PLF before you go

        • Anna says:

          This has been answered today!
You will need to show the QR code from the Spanish health form and your proof of vaccination on arrival.

    • ChrisC says:

BA ‘only required it’ because it was a requiement of the Spanish Government and BA was doing the initial checks on behalf of the Spanish.

Just as BA in Spain check you meet the UK requirements on your return – they are UK Govenment not BA restrictions.
