We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Have a companion voucher earned from the Virgin+ credit card. Do I have to be one of the passengers on the booking when this is used? Would like to gift it to family

    • Jonathan says:

Almost certain you have to be the / a traveler on the booking. If you could sell these vouchers, I’m sure there’d be no availability at all in revenge from VS !

      • AnotherUser says:

That’s a shame, but thanks for the reply!

        • Babyg says:

there is a “one free name change” that could be taken advantage of (ive not tried this, it just part of the current virgin book with confidence thingee.. e.g. book as your with 2 for 1 then name change… note you only get ONE name change…

  • Sunny says:

Can someone please tell me where can I find the companion voucher on my BAEC account? I can’t find the “eVoucher” section anywhere.

    • Andrew says:

It’s in your emails. Check there.

    • JDB says:

You need to login to main site (not app) and look in your Executive Club area, evouchers is a large section before any bookings you have. It shows unused vouchers and if you click on ‘more voucher information’ it will show the the used ones as well.

Holiday cash – We plan to use the IHG card for most purchases in Croatia next week (sorry — breaking our code of omerta – I meant to say Solihull card).

Probably we will need some cash, so what’s the best way to get Croatian Kruna?
Revolut from an ATM? (damn, did it again, I meant revolutionaries)
Bendy backed by IHG or Beardy? (can’t stop myself, should say Curve, Solihull and Virgin)
or just withdraw on my MBNA and repay it ASAP to avoid interest?

  • Rob says:

We’ve done articles on Dell. If you want to resell you need something easy to pack and small.

  • Sam G says:

I bought a Alienware 610M Wired / Wireless Gaming Mouse – sold on ebay for £60 net (£2 fee offer)

    • Sam G says:

As an aside I bought and kept a Dell keyboard the first time around – absolute piece of cheap junk – about to call for my third replacement as the bluetooth stopped working. To be fair they keep sending them out and tell me to dispose of mine but if I was an IT dept using these things in the wild I’d be pulling my hair out!

  • KBuffett says:

Has anyone used multiple AmEx cards for a single Cazoo purchase?

Also, what are people’s general thoughts given used car prices are currently inflated? Worth selling and getting something brand new with discount etc?

    • JDB says:

I did just just that last week, couldn’t believe the second hand price for 2 year old car to upgrade to newer model, with good discount given that some new cars are also in short supply. May have got a slightly better price as it was last days of 21 reg.

      • Sandra says:

Same here, mine was 6.5 years old & I got £2500 more than it was valued at last year against a 21 plate demonstrator, well pleased!

    • TGLoyalty says:

Have you checked the discount (or lack of) on new card? Used car prices are holding up because new cars are harder to come by and more expensive

      It’s a sellers market!

    • Sam G says:

I read an article that said that second hand car dealers were getting Cazoo cars delivered directly onto their forecourts as they were under priced….no idea how true that is but suggests they are at least reasonably priced

  • Harrier25 says:

So much for the 2 year rule….cancelled my PRG card 6 months ago after hitting bonus and using free lounge passes. Applied for a new one 6 weeks ago, referred by wife, and had the 20,000 bonus points applied to my account yesterday! Thank you Amex. 😀

    • KBuffett says:

Perhaps there’s a glitch that grants the bonus if you previously had a PRG charge card and now have the PRG credit card?
Can you confirm which card you cancelled 6 months ago?

      • Harrier25 says:

Both are of the credit variety. So very surprised to receive the 2nd bonus, but gratefully received!

      • Harry T says:

You can only receive a Gold charge by downgrading from a Platinum charge card, so the logic doesn’t hold up there. It’s just a favourable Amex glitch!

        • KBuffett says:

Surely if they had a PRG charge historically, cancelled, and then applied for a PRG credit after 6 months, then the logical would apply?

    • Babyg says:

i had similar bank error in my favour on 2 x amex gold sign ups over the past 18 months – obviously i didn’t complain 🙂

      • Harrier25 says:

Interesting. Looks like it’s not a one time only glitch, but may be a bigger glitch that can be taken advantage of. 🤔

    • Ming the Merciless says:

My best glitch was personal platinum in December last year. The card came with the bonus already in the MR account, the. When I hit the spend target another 40k dropped into my account.

  • Soo says:

BAPP 241 after 1st Sep: is the expiry 2 years or 2.5 years?
